Impact Wrestling Results (6/14): Number One Contender Match, Brian Cage Vs. Matt Sydal, Knockouts

- Earlier today, Moose heads into the building as he gets a chance at the number one contender spot, if he can get past Eli Drake later tonight.

- Preview of Impact X Division Champion Matt Sydal taking on Brian Cage, along with Moose vs. Drake with the winner taking on Impact World Champion Austin Aries at Slammiversary.

- Grado (with Katarina Lee) comes out for a match, but before the match can get started, Eddie Edwards comes out and smacks Grado with a kendo stick. He threatens Katarina with it and tells her to get out of the ring. On the mic, Edwards said he was so close to killing Sami Callihan last week, but Tommy Dreamer ruined it for him. He calls out Dreamer and wants to expose him. Dreamer heads out to the ring and tries to get Edwards to calm down. Dreamer says he stopped Edwards from making the biggest mistake of his life and that Callihan has been beat. Edwards didn't want to "beat" him he wanted to end him and Dreamer knows what he's talking about.

Dreamer talks about that being a different era and many of his friends can barely function at 50 due to chairshots and brain damage. Edwards wanted to finish Callihan and ride off into the sunset with his wife, but now she won't even speak to him. Dreamer says he knows that and Edwards gets enraged that Dreamer has been talking to his wife. Edwards back Dreamer into the corner and wants to know why he's talking to his wife, Dreamer ends up shoving him back to the mat. Edwards seems really broken up now and ends up smacking Dreamer over the head with the kendo stick and bails out of the ring.

- Backstage, Tommy Dreamer is seething backstage to Scott D'Amore and can't believe he has to put up with getting smacked in the head and he's not even a part of the talent. He tells D'Amore to check his boy and that he's done with this.

- In studio, Don Callis and Josh Mathews preview Drake vs. Moose, Sydal vs. Cage, and also Tessa Blanchard vs. Kiera Hogan in a No DQ match.

Taya Valkyrie vs. Rebel

Rebel makes her return to Impact Wrestling. Some back and forth early on before Rebels gets some momentum, but Valkyrie stops that in a hurry. Valkyrie drops Rebel, goes for the cover, two. Valkyrie taunts her opponent "Welcome back, Rebel!" Valkyrie slaps her around in the corner, Rebel tries for a roll-up, two, Valkyrie with a kick to her opponent's face and then chokes her on the rope.

Rebel gets back into this one, drops Valkyrie and does quite a bit of taunting, cover, two. Hits a knee to the face and tries for a second rope moonsault, lands on her feet. Valkyrie with a big spear and road to Valhalla, cover and that will do it.

Winner: Taya Valkyrie via Pinfall

- Post-match, Taya Valkyrie gets on the mic and asks the crowd to give Madison Rayne a round of applause because she's back in the impact zone. She let's Rayne know that this is her kingdom. Next week, she will show Rayne why she is not only lucha royalty, she is Knockouts royalty.

- GWN Flashback moment of the week featuring AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, and Christopher Daniels in a triple threat match. Daniels would eventually win the match.

- Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell talks with Matt Sydal about how he will defeat Brian Cage, who has yet to be defeated. Sydal says he may be bigger, but he sees things differently, he sees weakness on the inside of Cage. He tried to show him the path to inner strength, but ultimately the universe will be in Sydal's favor.

- Creepy Cam with oVe, Callihan's eye is all kinds of jacked up from Edward's attack at the end of last week's fight. He says he still considered last week a win and they plan on taking over everything, starting with Jake Crist beating Fantasma later tonight.

Fallah Bahh and KM vs. Cult of Lee

Crowd with a "Bahh!" chant as he heads to the ring. Lee gets in there against Bahh, gets sent across the ring and Konley gets tagged in. Konley tries to use force to move Bahh, who just laughs at him. Lee tries to help and gets bumped away and tosses Konley into the corner. They both begin swinging on him as KM gets in the ring for the double clothesline. Both hit splashes on the Cult of Lee who end up stumbling into each other's arms. KM and Bahh splash them once again.

Bahh steamrolls over both guys, KM does too, Bahh once more, and KM once more! Crowd is really into Bahh/KM. Bahh gets thumb in the eye, KM big boots Konley, KM goes to check on Bahh and he ends up getting a samoan drop. Cult of Lee with double boots and they pick up the cheap victory.

Winner: Cult of Lee via Pinfall

- Post-match, KM yells at Bahh, "What the hell was that?!" He ends up shoving Bahh to the mat and says he's done. Bahh gets all kinds of grumpy as KM heads up the ramp.

- Recap of last week's segment between Moose and Eli Drake where after some trash talking, Moose ended up getting a lowblow, gravy train, and a podium dropped down on him.

- LAX Lair, Santana, Ortiz, The King, and Diamante are hanging out, King announces next week they will get a shot at the tag title. King offers drinks to the two guys, offers one to Diamante, who initially isn't sure, but then takes it. The guys take a drink and make some faces, she calls them lightweights and throws it back. She heads off with the two guys, King suddenly has a change in demeanor as he looks around the office, sits in the main chair and says "The world is mine."

Moose vs. Eli Drake (Number One Contender Match)

We're over at House of Hardcore to see how his match goes. The two end up on the floor fairly early, Moose swings Drake into the barricade a couple times, but he looks to recover and hits a death valley driver on from the floor on the apron. Back in the ring, Drake jams his shoulder over and over into Moose's midsection. Moose with some machine gun chops as a response, but Drake returns fire with a pop-up powerslam, elbow drop, cover, two.

Drake lands a number of strikes, Moose seems to feed off them and drops Drake in the corner. Moose with a running delayed dropkick, Drake up to the second rope, Moose with the go to hell, cover, two! Drake tries for gravy train, no, Moose tries for a pump kick, no, powerbomb by Drake, cover, two. Moose charges into the corner, goes right into the ring post. Drake lifts and drops Moose with a neckbreaker, pin, two. Both end up on the turnbuckle, Drake with a superplex, cover, two. Drake tries for gravy train, no, tries again, no, Moose rolls him up, two. Pump kick hits, spear, cover 1-2-3

Winner: Moose via Pinfall to become the number one contender for the Impact World Championship

Kiera Hogan vs. Tessa Blanchard (No DQ Match)

Hogan is not in a good mood and immediately yanks Blanchard out of the ring to the floor. She smacks Blanchard's head on the apron a bunch of times and tosses her back in the ring. Hogan with a bunch of stomps in the corner and hits a splash. Blanchard bails out to the floor, but is on the receiving end of a baseball slide and a hurricanrana. Hogan is fired up, but gets a flapjack on the ramp to slow her momentum. Back in the ring, Blanchard with a running elbow and then a dropkick on Hogan, cover, two.

Blanchard with a heft lariat, holding on to the wrist she nails another one. Suplex into the corner by Blanchard, pin, two-count. Kiera able to counter a suplex into a crossbody, cover, two. Hogan tries for a splash in the corner, misses, Blanchard sits her up in the second rope and grabs a chair. Hogan fights off Blanchard, but Blanchard nails a hammerlock DDT, cover, two. Blanchard yells at the ref.

Blanchard stomps away on Hogan and for whatever reason the ref pulls her off. She ends up shoving him to the mat and says "What are you going to do, disqualify me?" Hogan launches the chair into Blanchard's face! Hogan drops Blanchard, but she tries to get the chair, Hogan stomps it out of her hands, then drops Blanchard's face down on it, cover, two. Blanchard sets the chair up, and ends up swinging Hogan's face down on it, ouch! Cover, 1-2-3. Really solid match between both Knockouts.

Winner: Tessa Blanchard via Pinfall

- Vignette for the "X" symbol as we see everyone who's been knocked out backstage by a mysterious individual. We see how Petey Williams was standing over Sonjay Dutt after he got knocked out, was it him? We keep seeing someone from behind, but don't ever see his face. Callis talks about how this has become criminal activity and the randomness of it all as all kinds of individuals (wrestlers/executives) are getting taken out.

Jake Crist (with Dave Crist) vs. El Hijo del Fantasma

Jake goes to work early and tries to tear at Fantasma's mask. Jake with some clubbing blows on Fantasma's face, but he recovers to land a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Fantasma heads to the ropes, but Dave trips him up, Jake is able to take advantage and go for a cover. Jake with a bunch of taunting, Fantasma is able to roll him up for the quick 1-2-3. Commentary noting that Jake isn't not at 100% after being attacked by Edwards on last week's show.

Winner: El Hijo del Fantasma via Pinfall

- Post-match, Dave attacks Fantasma on the floor, sends him into the ring. Fantasma is able to fight the two off, but Callihan shows up with his bat and smacks Fantasma in the head with it. Callihan tries to take off Fantasma's mask, but the lights go out. Pentagon Jr. shows up and heads down to the ring tosses Dave out and superkicks Jake down. Callihan stares at Pentagon and the two trade their taunts before Callihan heads towards the ramp.

Matt Sydal (c) vs. Brian Cage (Impact X Division Championship)

Sydal is avoiding Cage early on, uses his agility to avoid another move, but Cage smacks him with a back elbow. Sydal tries to pull Cage out to the floor and Cage ends up pulling him into the ring! Sydal with a spinning heel kick, standing moonsault, cover, not even one. Cage actually stands up with Sydal, curls a human being and dumps him over his head.

While Cage hammers away on Sydal, out comes Kongo Kong with Jimmy Jacobs. Cage gets distracted and Sydal lands a couple big boots, running dropkick in the corner. Sydal looks to choke out Cage, but doesn't keep it locked in for long. Kong and Jacobs watch on from the ramp as Sydal continues to kick away at Cage's chest. Cage blocks a kick, and throws Sydal over his head across the ring. Sydal heads to the apron, Cage with a second rope deadlift suplex, cover, two.

Sydal tries for a hurricanrana, Cage catches him and buckle bombs Sydal. Jacobs talks a bit to Sydal out on the floor as Cage walks up on Jacobs and Kong. Cage tosses Sydal back in the ring. Kongo launches Cage right into the steps, the referee doesn't see that, but ends up counting Cage out.

Winner: Matt Sydal via Count-Out to retain the Impact X Division Championship

- Backstage, Sonjay Dutt is standing over a knocked out Fallah Bahh while holding the "X" card. Sonjay Dutt can't believe it and has the police take Williams away. Williams yells that he didn't do this. He tells Williams to stop resisting and ends up punching Williams a bunch of times and smacks him with a nightstick. He then chokes him out and take off his shirt. Killer Kross (Kevin Kross) then takes one of those familiar "X" cards and puts it on Williams, looks at the camera and says, "You should probably call the police."
