WWE NXT Results (7/4): Johnny Gargano Goes Up Against EC3, Velveteen Dream In Action, Dakota Kai

- Mauro Ranallo, Percy Watson, and Nigel McGuinness welcome us in as we get righ to our first match.

Dakota Kai vs. Santana Garrett

Back and forth until Garrett lands a shoulder tackle to drop Kai. Kai uses her speed to hit a dropkick. Garrett stretches out Kai in the middle of the ring, slams her to the mat, cover, two. Muta lock by Garrett, Kai able to get out of it. Back elbow by Kai, kicks missed until Kai lands a step-up enziguri. Couple more kicks to the face land and send Garrett into the corner. Kai with her running signature kick to the face, another to a grounded Garrett. Kai finishes Garrett off with her float-over modified back stabber, cover, 1-2-3.

Winner: Dakota Kai via Pinfall

- Earlier today, EC3 and Johnny Gargano make their way into the building. The two will meet later tonight.

- At the gym, Otis Dozovic of Heavy Machinery is talking steaks and weights, when he hears his partner yell out in pain. Otis checks on Tucker, who is holding his leg in pain.

- NXT Women's Champion Shayna Baszler heads out to the ring to talk for a moment. She says everyone is wondering how she'll handle Nikki Cross and she responded when the dog is rabid, you put them to sleep. Baszler wonders who even has a chance of beating her and rattles off a few names in the women's division. She says they have to scour the entire globe for the next Mae Young Classic to find a proper challenge for her. Ultimately, she will put down whoever is put in front of her and she'll remain the champion.

- Backstage, Cathy Kelley talks with Danny Burch bout coming so close to winning the NXT Tag Titles and if he had an update on Oney Lorcan's injury. Burch says they came up just short and it will be about 3 months before Lorcan will be back after his surgery. The Undisputed Era walk by and decide to interrupt the interview. Strong says Burch (and an injured Lorcan) are now at the back of the line. Burch cracks a joke about O'Reilly and Strong losing the titles to Moustache Mountain at the WWE UK Championship Tournament. Cole runs his mouth a bit more and Burch says how about a one-on-one match next week, Cole looks to accept the challenge and the group heads off.

- Last week, Tommaso Ciampa wants a title match against the NXT Champion Aleister Black.

- In three weeks: Aleister Black defends his title against Tommaso Ciampa.

The Mighty vs. Otis Dozovic (2-on-1 Handicap Match)

With Tucker getting hurt before the match, Otis is out here by himself to take on Miller and Thorne. Otis hits a shoulder tackle on both opponents, sends both out to the floor. Otis with a clubbing blow on Thorne, Miller gets a tag and slams Otis' head into the turnbuckle, that didn't hurt him one bit. He throws Miller's head into the turnbuckle, yeah, that hurt him. Thorne with an attack from behind while the referee was distract.

Thorne back in the match as he stomps Otis out on the floor. Back in the ring, Miller is tagged back in and he swings away on a grounded Otis. Crowding booing this and start up a "Otis!" chant. The Might with a back suplex on Otis, cover, two. Otis on the receiving end of a bunch of chops. The Mighty try for a suplex, but end up getting suplexed by Otis.

Otis with a number of clotheslines, over and over again. Overhead release suplex on Miller and hits a body splash on both guys in the corner. Thorne tries for a crossbody, gets caught in midair and tossed to the mat. Otis with the caterpillar elbow drop. Crowd is loving this. He heads up to the second turnbuckle for the vader bomb, Miller pulls Thorne out of the way. Running knee by Thorne, Miller tagged in, Thorne with a big forearm to the back of the head, cover, and that will do it.

Winners: The Mighty via Pinfall

- Earlier this week, Bianca Belair is checking out how all these women in the women's division saying they are the number one contender, but she's the only one undefeated. Belair wonders how are they at the top of the list...they need to catch up to her.

- Earlier today, Kairi Sane says she heard what Vanessa Borne had said about her, but Borne should do less talking and more fighting The two will meet next week. Sane also noted she's coming for that title.

- Next week: Adam Cole vs. Danny Burch in a non-title match.

Velveteen Dream vs. Chris Dijak

Dijak tries his "Feat your eyes" taunt, Dream puts his finger to his lips and does his own taunt. Both in the corner, Dream slaps him on the chest and taunts again, Dijak with a chop to the chest, but Dream lands a big boot to Dijak. It doesn't hurt him much as Dijak hits a release suplex on Dreamer and nails some forearms in the corner. Dream on the second rope, big strike to the chest, Dijak puts him on his shoulder, knee to Dream's side, and Dijak just launches Dream across the ring. Crowd with a "Feast your eyes/Velveteen!" chant.

Dream with a number of kicks and punches as he gets back some momentum. Dream with a neckbreaker Dijak with some huge strikes, finishing with a haymaker that drops his opponent. Dijak with a spinning kick, cover, two. Dream ends up on the floor, Dijak on the apron, Dream trips up Dijak who lands head first on the steps. Dream tosses him back in and hits spinning DDT, cover, 1-2-3.

Winner: Velveteen Dream via Pinfall

- Before Dream can even get out of the ring, EC3 heads out to the ring to steal a bit of his thunder. Dream isn't really thrilled with this, but heads out and goes to the back.

- Earlier today, Moustache Mountain are told they will have to defend their tag titles on next week's show against O'Reilly and Strong. They look forward to showing that they win was no fluke and they will retain the titles.

- Next week: Aleister Black will make an appearance.

Johnny Gargano vs. EC3

Gargano goes after EC3 who tries to avoid him at first. EC3 able to drop Gargano, but Gargano sends him to the mat, lands a couple punch and hits a few chops to the chest. EC3 plants Gargano to the mat, hits a couple more chops as the crowd lets out a "EC3/Johnny Wrestling!" chant. EC3 with a running neckbreaker, cover, two. EC3 looks to slow things down, but Gargano uncorks a couple forearms to his face. Back elbow by EC3.

EC3 hits a power slam, diving elbow, but Gargano fires back with a couple punches. Gargano ends up on the apron, hits a spear, and a suicide dive out to the floor. EC3 thrown back into the ring, and ends up landing a huge lariat, cover, two-count. Back and forth punches, Gargano heads to the top turnbuckle, goes for a dive, EC3 catches him, but Gargano able to counter into a Gargano Escape. EC3 reverses with a sitout powerbomb, cover, two!

Superkicks by Gargano, drops the kneepad and charges in, EC3 with a fireman's carry, reverse into the Gargano Escape. EC3 is able to get to the rope, Gargano is a bit of a mess now and holds on for a couple extra seconds. He does it again, EC3 grabs the ropes and the referee gets to four this time. Big kick to EC3's face, Gargano has snapped. Draped DDT from the second rope, just like how Ciampa defeated him at TakeOver, cover, 1-2-3.
