WWE NXT Results (7/24): Io Shirai Vs. Kacy Catanzaro, NXT Breakout Tournament, Cole - Gargano

Tonight features NXT Champion Adam Cole and Johnny Gargano announce their NXT TakeOver: Toronto II 2-out-of-3 falls match stipulations, Keith Lee vs. Damian Priest, Kacy Catanzaro vs. Io Shirai, and Jordan Myles vs. Angel Garza in a semi-final match in the NXT Breakout Tournament.
- Last week, Adam Cole talks about how he's travel around on his championship tour. We see initially wanting to do it against Twan Tucker, one of the wrestlers Johnny Gargano visited with at a wrestling school in his hometown. Gargano ends up coming out and attacking Cole. William Regal then announces at TakeOver: Toronto II it will be Cole vs. Gargano in a 2-out-of-3 falls match: Gargano picks one stipulation, Cole the other, and Regal picks the last.
Jordan Myles vs. Angel Garza (Semi-Final Match in the NXT Breakout Tournament)
Garza looks for the handshake, Myles goes for it and Garza slips away with a taunt to his opponent. Crowd fairly split for this match. Back and forth wristlocks, multiple counters until Garza lands a dropkick. Garza eats a wrecking ball dropkick, Garza then trips up Myles as he makes his way to the apron. Garza then throws Jordan into the stairs and then the barricade. Garza with the tearaway pants spot as the referee starts up his ten-count. Myles makes his way in and immediately eats a kick.

Garza with a stalled backbreaker, cover, two. Hits a big thrust kick, another pin, two. Garza stomps on Myles' hand, kick to the midsection, slams him face first into the bottom turnbuckle. Myles then lights up Garza with kicks to the chest, running forearm, double chop, sweep kick, low dropkick to the head, kip-up, spinning discus clothesline, and Myles heads to the top. Garza rolls away though, Myles switches to a springboard and eats a dropkick in midair, cover, two. Jordan drops Garza again, deadlift german suplex with the bridge, 1-2-3.
Winner: Jordan Myles via Pinfall to advance to the finals.
- Post-match, Shane Throne storms commentary and yanks Maruo's headset off. Thorne wonders what the point of bringing in eight new Superstars when he's been here for three years doing work while these eight were nowhere in sight. Throne says he doesn't need a tournament to breakout, he'll breakout on his own, and heads off.
- Backstage, Johnny Gargano tells Adam Cole when he gets family involved, it becomes personal. It's no longer about winning the title, it's about beating the hell out of Cole. Gargano then picks his stipulation: Street Fight.
Bianca Belair vs. Xia Li
Belair immediately rams Li into the corner and stomps away at her. Li tries to shove her off and Belair just swings her around the ring, hammer blows to the back. Belair grabs the hair, double chickenwing and Li plants her to the mat. Belair with a handspring moonsault, kip-up, and taunts her opponent. Belair eats a back elbow, but catches Li in midair as she goes for a crossbody and pulls off a fallaway slam. Belair with a stalled vertical suplex (with a few squats), but Li flips out of it, multiple kicks to Belair's chest. Li leaps off the top rope, rolls through, Belair just runs over Li, KOD hits, cover, 1-2-3.

- Vignette for Killian Dain talks about his attack on Matt Riddle on last week's show. Dain says Riddle isn't just "anybody," he's "somebody." He says this isn't MMA, in Dain's world, there are no rules and he can't wait to introduce Riddle to his world.
- At the WWE Performance Center, Mia Yim attacks Jessamyn Duke after she finishes up a training session. Yim slams a locker into the side of Duke and yells "Surprise, motherf—er!" Yim continues to beat her up before kicking another locker door into Duke's shoulder.
- NXT North American Champion Velveteen Dream heads to the ring. Dream talks about Roderick Strong, says he's a hell of a man, but he's not the only guy who can go all night. Dream continues that Strong isn't big enough to "ride this ride." Dream says maybe there's someone else who is, and they should make their voice heard. Strong heads out to the ring and says he doesn't think Dream believes his own words...he's scared. Strong says he's the most deserving challenger and could take Dream's title like that. Strong says it should be him versus Dream at TakeOver. Pete Dunne's music then hits to a big pop. Dunne heads to the ring, Strong goes right at him and Dunne snaps Strong's fingers, he bails out of the ring. Dunne turns his attention to Dream and checks out his title. Dream looks a bit nervous as he heads out of the ring, but jaws some to Dunne as heads up the ramp.

- Backstage, Strong goes to William Regal about his title opportunity, he's not happy that Dunne is trying to take that spot. Regal doesn't disagree about Strong being a challenger. Regal then says Dunne is going to be in the mix in NXT for a bit. Regal says it will be Dream vs. Strong vs. Dunne for the title at TakeOver. Strong says that's fine, he wants Dunne next week though.
Io Shirai vs. Kacy Catanzaro
Shirai is out with a black and white entrance, much darker than her previous, mask is also gone. Shirai lunges with a big dropkick, double knees to the face in the corner, delayed backbreaker. Out runs Candice LeRae and she goes right after Shirai with punches, enziguri, and lands a big suicide dive. LeRae grabs a chair and goes after Shirai, but she bails to the back.

Winner: Io Shirai via Disqualification
- Backstage, Adam Cole picks the stipulation for his match against Johnny Gargano at TakeOver: a regular wrestling match. Cole says he's already beaten Gargano in that kind of match, so why change it up?
- Next week: Pete Dunne vs. Roderick Strong
Keith Lee vs. Damian Priest
Back and forth strikes get things started. Priest with some kicks and invites Lee to fight back. Lee with a flurry of strikes and Priest dodges them all. Priest goes for one of his own and Lee leaps of it. The two seems to admire their respective work for a moment. Lee with misdirection into a shoulder tackle. Greco Roman knuckle lock on Priest, he then elevates his opponent for a moment, but eats a forearm by Priest. Priest with a kick to the knee, followed up by more punches and kicks. Lee gets smashed into the bottom turnbuckle.

Priest with a discus clothesline, cover, two. Lee sends Priest into the corner, Priest up and over the rope to the apron. He looks to control Lee's wrist, walks the top rope, drops down on Lee, cover, Lee with a big kick out. Lee controls Priest's wrist, Priest trying to fight out of it, but Lee lands multiple punches, running forearm, lariat, cover, 1-2-no. Priest with a back elbow, falcon arrow hits, pin, two-count. Lee with some more shots and hits a big pounce on his opponent, sending him spinning in the air. Priest ends up sliding to the floor, Lee follows, throws him back in, Priest with a knee to the face that sends Lee out to the floor again. Priest goes for a flip over the top rope and Lee catches him in midair! Priest fights out of it and ends up kicking Lee into the steps. An angered Lee gets back up to his feet, both go into the ring. Priest uses the referee as a shield, cyclone boot, rolling cutter, 1-2-3.
