Impact Wrestling Results (2/23): Moose Vs. Jake Something, Two No. 1 Contender Matches

D'Lo Brown and Matt Striker welcome fans to Impact Wrestling! We kick things off with a grudge match stipulation!

Tables Match: Deaner vs. Jake Something

Deaner comes in aggressively by charging in with a flurry of forearms on Jake Something. Jake shoves him off half-way across the ring. He heads out of the ring to grab one of the many tables set up on the outside. Jake is taken too long to unfold the table. Deaner takes advantage with a fast and furious dive through the ropes. Jake rocks Deaner with a heavy right to create some distance. He slides a table into the ring and sets it up in between the middle and top of the ring. Deaner side steps and throws Jake face-first towards the setup table! Deaner smashes Jake's face into the bottom of the table again.

Deaner looks for another table on the outside. Jake lays down a few strikes to set up another table between the apron and barricade. Both men are on eggshells standing on the apron. Jake grabs Deaner mid-air and has him in the powerbomb position. Deaner slides out from the back. Deaner slams Jake into throat-first towards the legs of the table. On the top rope now, Jake was close to having Deaner in the superplex position. Deaner escapes and grabs Deaner by the hair and snapmares him from off the top. Jake connects Deaner with a powerbomb in the center of the ring. Jake hoists Deaner up. Deaner drops Jake onto the steel stairs!

They carry their brawl up towards the ramp. Deaner has Jake in the DDT position. Deaner reverses with a big forearm. Deaner escapes another powerbomb attempt with a low blow. Jake's rage gets the best of him when he slams Deaner through the table. Jake Something wins this match! This will be the second match he has won against Deaner!

Winner: Jake Something

Post-Match: Moose ambushes Jake Something with a spear through the table. He pulls out a chair and calls Rich Swann out for a World Championship match.

After the commercial break, the referees are taking Jake Something to the back. Moose is still in the ring waiting for his Impact World Championship match. The Executive Vice President, Scott D'Amore's music hits. He tells the TNA World Champion to get out of the ring. He also adds Rich Swann isn't even in the building tonight. D'Amore grants him a title match, but not tonight. He announces that Moose's self-proclaimed championship is officially sanctioned. Tonight, Moose will defend his TNA World Heavyweight Championship against Jake Something after interrupting his big win.

Up next, part one of the No. 1 Contender's match for the X-Division Championship!

Trey Miguel, Willie Mack & Josh Alexander vs. Chris Bey, Black Taurus (w/Decay) & Ace Austin (w/Madman Fulton)

Trey Miguel and Chris Bey kick things off. Bey works Trey's arm with a tight wrist lock. Trey turns it around with a waistlock/wrist takedown. They continue the smooth technical aspect. Trey rolls Bey through with a crucifix pin. Bey gets his shoulders up at two. Bey tags Ace Austin in. Josh Alexander is in for Trey. Alexander side steps Austin, who goes crashing into the middle turnbuckle. Alexander makes a tag out to Willie Mack. Austin rolls over for a tag out to Black Taurus.

Mack and Taurus have an impressive high-flying exchange. Mack changes the pace by bringing Alexander back in. Black Taurus temporarily has the upper hand as he chops away on Alexander. Alexander counters with a dragon twist that manipulates Taurus' shoulder. Taurus climbs up ropes and lands a beautiful corkscrew moonsault right before the commercial break.

Back from the break, Bey and Alexander are exchanging chops. Alexander counters Bey's hurricanrana with a powerbomb on his knee! Alexander makes a tag out to Trey. Trey briefly locks in a pendulum submission on Austin before jumping on his back to break the hold. Willie Mack is tagged in by Trey. Chaos breaks out. Mack and Austin are the legal men in the match. Quick Irish Whip reversals from Mack turn into a heavy forearm to Autin's face. Mack looks for a cover. Austin kicks out. Austin secures The Fold on Mack for only a two count! Black Taurus and Trey square off. Taurus sends Trey crashing with a powerful backbreaker. Alexander slides back in with a suplex on Taurus. Bey sends Alexander out with The Finesser. Mack stops Bey in his tracks but misses a splash off the top. Bey flies off the middle rope with his Art of Finesse for the pinfall victory!

Winners: Chris Bey, Ace Austin & Black Taurus

Next week, these three will face off in a Triple Threat Match to determine who will face TJP for the X-Division Championship.

Backstage: Sami Callihan catches Trey Miguel backstage and keeps taunting him from last week. Miguel has had enough and snaps on The Draw.

Next is the Impact Plus Moment of the Week showcasing Decay ahead of their Impact In 60 episode after tonight's broadcast. 

- Speaking of them, Decay says it's time to rejoice. They are ready to bring back treasures to the shadow. They want the X-Division Championship for Black Taurus.

AEW's Tony Khan and Tony Schiavone, along with some familiar faces from the roster, announce what fans can expect from tomorrow's Dynamite!

Backstage: Havok is begging Nevaeh to give her one more chance to be her tag partner. Nevaeh is still undecided on whether she wants to still be a tag partner to Havok or become a singles competitor. Tenille Dashwood and Kaleb try to recruit Havok to their team. She declines their offer harshly.

XXXL vs. The Good Brothers

Karl Anderson and Larry D kick things off. They both go for a collar and elbow lockup. Larry D pushes Anderson towards the ropes. Anderson fires back before tagging Doc Gallows. Gallows plants a fallaway slam before making a tag out to Anderson. Anderson keeps Larry D in their corner as he makes another quick tag out to Gallows. Larry D escapes with a tag to Acey Romero. Gallows pushes Romero towards his corner and lands a couple of shots before bringing Anderson back in. Romero shoots back with a series of shots which sends Anderson over towards their corner. Romero gets a tag out to Larry D.

Larry D puts a rear chin lock on Anderson. Anderson has quite a distance to go to get the bottom rope. Anderson rises to his feet and fights out with several elbow shots on Larry D. Anderson tags Gallows back in. Gallows lands a big boot on Romero, who steps in. Gallows lands another big boot on Larry D. Anderson connects a back elbow on Romero, who makes it up on the apron. The Good Brothers send Larry D away with the Magic Killer for the pinfall victory.

Winners: The Good Brothers 

At Johnny Swinger's Palace: James Storm and Chris Sabin are having a great time at their new hangout spot. Rohit Raju and Shera come in and crash the party. Sabin doesn't want anyone to fight. Swinger wants to set up a match between Storm and Raju next week!

Backstage: FinJuice is hanging out, and The Good Brothers come over to say hello. The Good Brothers have to rub it in again that they're the best World Tag Team Champions. FinJuice knows this, but they still aren't impressed.

Eddie Edwards vs. Brian Myers

Brian Myers comes out and informs Eddie Edwards that he can't compete tonight. He uses his lawyer as an excuse as to why he can't wrestle. Myers' lawyer is worried about Myers' eye injury, so, therefore, his lawyer decides that Hernandez will be his replacement tonight.

Eddie Edwards vs. Hernandez 

Eddie Edwards doesn't wait for Hernandez to make his way down to the ring before he flies through the ropes with a huge dive. Hernandez sends Edwards crashing off the apron. Hernandez heads to the top. Edwards catches him with a high superplex! Hernandez turns it around with a big body press. Edwards slips out of the Border Toss to send Hernandez away with the Boston Knee Party. Eddie Edwards picks up the victory!

Winner: Eddie Edwards

- Matt Cardona catches Brian Myers backstage. Scott D'Amore steps in and informs Myers that the Impact doctor has cleared him to compete in a singles match with Eddie Edwards next week. But there's a stipulation to this match; Cardona will be the referee. Before he leaves, D'Amore jokes about what an absurd match an Eye for an Eye would be.

Up next, we'll find out who will become the No. 1 Contender for the Knockouts Tag Team Championship!

Susan and Kimber Lee (w/Deonna Purrazzo) vs. Jazz and Jordynne Grace

Susan goes right for a waistlock on Jazz. Jazz reverses it with a takedown. Jazz rolls her up. Susan gets her shoulders up at two. The reset. Susan locks in a side headlock. Jazz breaks free by pushing Susan towards the ropes. Jazz lays a forearm down for another near fall. Deonna Purrazzo breaks up Jazz's momentum on the outside. Jordynne Grace tries to make her way in, but the referee tries to push her back towards her corner. ODB runs out to even the odds on Purrazzo. The referee finds both ODB and Purrazzo too distracting that he ejects them from ringside.

Back from the break, Kimber Lee is now in the ring. Jazz lands a nice back kick to break free from Lee. Lee catches Jazz with a big side slam for only a two count. Lee drags Jazz over towards her corner for a tag out to Susan. Susan rolls Jazz through with a snapmare into a sleeper hold. Jazz rises to her feet. Susan sends Jazz shoulder-first into the ring post. Susan makes the tag out to Lee. Jazz and Lee charge head-first into each other. They crawl over to tag in their partners.

Jordynne Grace plants Susan with a textbook spinebuster. Lee breaks up the attempted pinfall. Jazz and Jordynne join forces with a great flapjack suplex. It still isn't enough to keep Susan down. Grace throws Susan into the corner with a low German Suplex. Susan escapes a lock with a thumb to the eye. She looks for a cover, but Jordynne kicks out. Lee sneaks in with a combo move. Susan twists Jordynne up with an ankle lock. Jordynne rolls over and sends Susan out cold with the Grace Driver. Jordynne Grace and Jazz have now become the new No. 1 Contenders!

Winners: Jordynne Grace and Jazz 

Backstage: Jordynne Grace and Jazz find ODB knocked out. They call for help.

And now, the main event!

TNA World Heavyweight Championship: Moose (c) vs. Jake Something

Jake Something returns the favor on Moose from earlier with an ambush attack just as the champion is making his way down to the ring. Their match will continue right after the break.

Back from the final break of the evening and Jake Something is just throwing Moose around on the outside. They make their way into the ring, and the bell officially rings. Moose lands a nasty chop. Moose takes Jake off his feet and sends him face-first into the apron. Jake sidesteps out of the way from a spear in the corner. Jake whispers something at Moose before connect a heavy forearm. Jake picks up the momentum with a powerful sit-out powerbomb. Moose kicks out! Moose comes back into this with a missile dropkick before Jake goes crashing down on the mat with a big superplex! Moose positions himself in the corner for Lights Out, but Jake counters with another huge sit-out powerbomb! Moose keeps himself alive with another kick out. Both men slug it out with back and forth forearms. Moose plants Jake with two Uranages before sending Jake away with his Lights Out spear for the pinfall victory. Moose retains his championship.

 

Winner and Still TNA World Champion: Moose

Post-Match: The Impact World Champion Rich Swann makes his way down to the ring to stop Moose from using a chair on Jake Something. Scott D'Amore comes out and announces that on Saturday, March 13, at Sacrifice, Swann will put his title on the line!
