AEW Dark Results (8/24): Best Friends Vs. Matt Hardy & TH2

- The show starts out with a recap of AEW Rampage and CM Punk's pro wrestling return along with a graphic of Punk's match against Darby Allin at All Out. Excalibur and Taz welcome us to this week's episode of Dark at the United Center in Chicago, IL. Taz is excited for Hobbs tonight as we go straight away to our first match of the night.

- FTW World Champion Ricky Starks joins commentary kicking off the show within a show "AEW Starks".

Thunder Rosa vs. Heather Reckless

Rosa with control early on. She rocks Reckless with a few chop and follows up with a bodyslam into a senton. Reckless baits Rosa into the corner but so does Rosa as she hits a lariat in the corner and then a double knee strike. Rosa hits a running dropkick on the middle ropes. Rosa hits a butterfly suplex for two. Reckless counters the Fire Thunder Driver and hits an enzuigiri for two. Rosa hits a Russian Leg Sweep and taps out Reckless with the Peruvian Necktie for the win.

Winner: Thunder Rosa via submission

- We get a bunch of announcements of two trios matches and a Chris Jericho announcement for Dynamite. A women's Casino Battle Royale will be on The Buy-In at All Out, and the first entrant will be Nyla Rose who won the first women's Casino Battle Royale.

Varsity Blonds (Brian Pillman Jr. & Garrison Matthews) (w/ Julia Hart) vs. Ren Jones and Brayden Lee

Garrison using his strength early on. Garrison out maneuvering Lee as he catches him with an arm drag followed up by a back body drop. Jones charges in and takes down Garrison allowing Lee to go at Garrison and tag in Jones. Lee hits a reverse atomic drop into a flatliner for Jones for a one count. Lee and Jones now cutting the ring in half on Garrison, but Garrison finds an opening and tags in Pillman.

Pillman runs through both men. Pillman works over Lee in the corner. Lee tries to cut off Pillman, but Pillman hits a springboard crossbody on him. Lee eats a thrust kick, and Pillman tags in Garrison. Lee taken out with a boot as Garrison hits a rolling elbow strike, and Pillman hits Air Pillman for the win.

Winners: Varsity Blonds (Brian Pillman Jr. & Garrison Matthews) via pinfall

Powerhouse Hobbs (w/ Hook) vs. Shawn Dean

Dean charges at Hobbs with a dropkick. He hits a DDT and then a corner dropkick. Hobbs though catches Dean with a spinebuster, cover 1-2-and Hobbs lifts up Dean's shoulder. Hobbs hits Town Business for the win.

Winner: Powerhouse Hobbs via pinfall

Post-match: Starks has a mic and tells Hobbs and Hook to deal more damage on Dean. Starks says that's what Team Taz will do to Brian Cage. Taz approves and says their sending a message to Cage.

- AEW Women's World Champion Dr. Britt Baker DMD, Rebel and Jamie  Hayter make their way to the ring for an interview with Tony Schiavone. Schiavone hypes up Hayter's AEW in-ring debut against Red Velvet, who Baker has beaten. Schiavone asks how Baker feels about the match. Baker says she wants to give it to "the greatest athlete of our generation", Dr. Britt Baker DMD. She notes she made history in the United Center because she walked out the tunnel, stepped into the ring and came in as AEW Women's World Champion.

Baker says she doesn't see Red Velvet as a rival, until Red Velvet ruined her celebration in "Brittsburgh". Baker says Hayter will make sure Red Velvet learned her lesson. Hayter says she'll get her boot on Red Velvet all around the ring. Red Velvet's music plays and out comes Red Velvet! Hayter holds her off, but Kris Statlander runs in! Baker and her crew escape the ring.

Dante Martin vs. Alan "5" Angels (w/ John Silver & 10)

The crowd shows their support for Martin. Angels and Martin get into some chain wrestling as they also trade flash pins back and forth. The pace starts to pick up as Martin drops Angels with a dropkick. Martin goes over the top on the corner as Angels hits a low dropkick sending him outside. Angels then hits an Orihara moonsault! Back in the ring, Angels goes around and hits a DDT for a two count.

Angels applies a cravat. Martin escapes and sends Angels outside. Martin takes a breath and back flips over Angels who runs back in the ring! Martin hits a back body drop and then a series of back elbows. Martin hits another back elbow this time in the corner. Angels halts Martin in the corner but gets rocked by a Gamengiri followed up by a double springboard moonsault, cover 1-2-no! Martin and Angels on the apron now.

Martin goes over Angels, but Angels drops him back first on the apron. Back in the ring, Angels hits a flatliner into the Koji Clutch. Angels breaks the hold as Martin tried to transitions into a pin. Martin blocks the Wing Snapper. Angels set up on top as Martin hits a high Gamengiri and follows up with a straight-jacket Death Valley Driver for the win.

Winner: Dante Martin via pinfall

Nick Comoroto and Aaron Solo (w/ QT Marshall) vs. Lucha Brothers (Rey Fenix & Penta El Zero Miedo) (w/ PAC & Alex Abrahantes)

Varsity Blonds are scouting their Dynamite opponents from ringside as Fenix and Solo start off this match-up. The fans want Penta, and so Penta and Comoroto tag in. The crowd continues their "Zero Miedo" chants. Penta tells Comoroto "Zero Miedo". Penta then goes to take off his glove and tosses it to Abrahantes who doesn't catch it, but he catches it the second time! Comoroto blocks the "Zero Miedo", but Penta hits a superkick. Comoroto still standing tall after a series of follow-up strikes. Penta gets taken down as Solo tags in, and The Factory hit some combo offense for a two count.

Penta hits Comoroto with a superkick and tags in Fenix. The Factory get rocked with strikes. Fenix sends Comoroto outside. Lucha Bros. get in the face of Varsity Blonds. Solo catches Fenix and hits a German Suplex for a two count. Solo hits a corkscrew kick for another two count. Fenix with a high kick on Solow and then a series of kicks on Comoroto. Fenix goes around the ropes for a hook kick and tags in Penta.

Penta hits a series of slingblades on The Factory. Solo eats a superkick and then tags out Comoroto. Penta hits Made in Japan on Solo, cover 1-2-no! Lucha Bros. signaling for the end, but Comoroto drops Penta and Solo pins Penta for a two count. Lucha Bros. deal kicks on The Factory. Comoroto slams Fenix. Comoroto shows off his power but not for long as he's dropped with a superkick. Penta sets up Solo with for a Fenix cutter. Fenix hits a splash on Comoroto on the outside as the Lucha Bros. win with a double Fear Factor.

Winners: Lucha Brothers (Rey Fenix & Penta El Zero Miedo) via pinfall

10 and John Silver (w/ Alan "5" Angels) vs. Kal Herro and Isaiah Moore

Silver manhandles Moore and takes him down with a back elbow. 10 sends Moore to the ropes forcing a tag to Herro. 10 drops Herro and hits a fallaway slam. Silver tags in and hits a high knee and a round kick followed up by a brainbuster. 10 and Moore tag in, and 10 hits a spinesbuter. Silver and 10 hit their version of a flurry of combo offense ending in a backbreaker bomb for the win.

Winners: 10 and John Silver via pinfall

Best Friends (Orange Cassidy, Chuck Taylor, Wheeler Yuta) (w/ Kris Statlander) vs. Matt Hardy and TH2 (Angelico & Jack Evans) (w/ The Bunny & The Blade)

Cassidy and Angelico start this off as Cassidy looks to put his hands in his pockets, but Angelico wants to chain wrestle. Cassidy takes him down and gets his hands in his pockets and hits a step-up rana followed up by a shotgun dropkick. Yuta tags in and sets up some tag team combos with Cassidy and ends with sa senton. Angelico charges Yuta in his corner as Evans tags in. Yuta drops him with a dropkick for a one count.

Taylor tags in and gets off a jackknife cover for a two count off the Yuta dropkick. Taylor lands on his feet on the moonsault, but Hardy drops him allowing Evans to take control. HFO now cutting the ring in half on Taylor. Hardy drops Cassidy and mocks him, but he eats a Soul Food allowing Taylor to tag in Yuta who goes at TH2. Yuta sends HFO outside one by one. Yuta hits a springboard splash on HFO!

Evans cuts off Yuta up top. Taylor flips over Evans and plants Angelico. Taylor then hits a tope con hiro! Yuta and Cassidy each hit splashes, cover, but Hardy breaks it up. TH2 hit a stomp / back drop combo, cover 1-2-no! TH2 hit a backbreaker combo into a Hardy Side Effect, cover, but Yuta breaks it up! Yuta and Taylor deal with Hardy. The Blade distracts the ref, but Best Friends combine hit a double brainbuster on TH2.

Chaos as one man from each team gets dropped one after another. Cassidy with some big low kicks into a twisting DDT. Evans saves Hardy from the Orange Punch. Angelico schoolboy roll up, 1-2-no! Angelico counters the Beach Break, but Cassidy sits down, hands in pockets and gets the win.

Winners: Best Friends (Orange Cassidy, Chuck Taylor, Wheeler Yuta) via pinfall

Post-match: Cassidy drops Angelico with an Orange Punch. Best Friends give the people what they want as Hardy jaws at Cassidy, and that closes out this week's Dark.
