WWE 205 Live Results (8/6): Kushida Takes On Ari Sterling, Leon Ruff Returns

Vic Joseph and Nigel McGuinness welcome us to another edition of 205 Live. We kick things off with the first singles match scheduled for tonight's show!

Leon Ruff vs. Grayson Waller

Both men lock up. Grayson Waller tosses Leon Ruff halfway across the ring. The fans are divided on who they want to win. Waller pokes fun of Ruff's height by taking a knee. Because of that, Ruff catches Waller with a big kick. Waller then eats a forearm and another kick to the side of the face. Waller hoists Ruff up. Ruff flips down and stacks Waller up for a near-fall attempt. Waller connects a delayed vertical suplex. Waller hooks the leg for a two-count.

Waller double stomps on top of Ruff's neck. Ruff was charging towards the corner. Waller continues the onslaught by driving his knee into Ruff's spine. Waller throws Ruff into the corner and plants a massive knife edge chop. Ruff follows through with an up and over stack up for another near-fall. Waller shoves Ruff out of the ring and meets him on the outside with a devastating DDT. Distracted by the commentators, Ruff flies in on Waller. Back in the ring, Waller throws Ruff off the top rope.

Waller has Ruff in the Argentine Backbreaker position and rolls him off. Waller heads to the top and hits a flying elbow for another two count! Waller goes back to driving his knees into Ruff. Ruff escapes with a tornado DDT! Ruff comes off the top with a springboard cutter but can't get the pinfall victory just yet. Ruff soars down with a splash. No one's home. Waller slithers back into the ring and hits a stunner. Cover. No! Ruff kicks out. Waller hoists Ruff up. Ruff counters it into a crucifix driver. 1-2-3. The former North American Champion prevails!

Winner: Leon Ruff

Up next, the Cruiserweight Champion Kushida will be in action in the main event!

Championship Contender Match: Kushida (c) vs. Ari Sterling

Both men run the ropes. Kushida ducks down. Ari Sterling runs towards Kushida with a shoulder tackle. Kushida doesn't flinch. Kushida controls the pace of the match with a tight wristlock. Sterling breaks it up and misses an Asai moonsault. Kushida startles Sterling with a dropkick on the outside.

Back in the ring, Kushida misses a knee strike from the top. Sterling lands a kick to the gut. Sterling goes up and over with a flipping leg drop and looks for a cover. The Cruiserweight Champion kicks out. Sterling holds Kushida in a body scissors. Kushida transitions the hold. Both men rise to their feet. Sterling eats a big boot and back elbow in the corner. Kushida looks for his springboard back elbow. Sterling has it scouted and plants an enziguri. Sterling sends Kushida crashing down on the mat with a beautiful avalanche hurricanrana! Sterling doesn't capitalize on his shooting star double knee maneuver as Kushida counters it into the Hoverboard Lock. Kushida's got it in. Sterling taps. Kushida picks up a major victory!

Winner: Kushida
