John Cena Talks His WWE Schedule And Future, If The U.S. Title Needs Rebuilding, New Movie Role

As noted earlier, John Cena took part in a media day this past Friday in San Francisco. During the event, I asked Cena about his hectic WWE schedule and if it's something that he plans to scale down at all.

"The long and short of it is I really like my job," Cena replied. "Everyone always asks the question, 'how, how do you do it?'. I love what I do. You'll hear everybody say that, but I prove it. I'm not saying that to condescend anybody else's opinion. I'm saying it because I love it, I truly do. I want to be in this as long as I can, so I'm going to. When I'm a step slower than I should be and I shouldn't be out there, I'm not gonna be out there. That'll be very, very relevant to the entire audience, as you know they're very fickle. When it's time, it'll be time to go. But until then, man I'm going to ride the lightning because I love what I'm doing."

Cena was also asked about rebuilding the U.S. title. Cena stated that the title didn't have to be rebuilt, noting that Rusev is undefeated and Sheamus held it before him.

"I think it is a beacon of achievement, I really do. Right now we are a bit of a fickle situation with a WWE Heavyweight champion [Brock Lesnar] who, when he shows he does some damage, believe me. I think I spoke German after Summerslam he suplexed me so many times. I want to be able to have a viable, competitive championship that is available at every live event, at every television, at every special event, at every pay-per-view. And on top of that, those who have watched WWE, I am almost overly patriotic. As the Wrestling Inc. guy would say, that is not a work. That is who I am. It gives me great pride, not just from a nostalgia factor to win the championship that I won at WrestleMania 20 but to be the bearer of essentially the championship that defines the United States."

Cena was also asked about his upcoming film projects. Cena revealed that he landed a small role in the upcoming Mark Wahlberg – Will Ferrell movie titled Daddy's Home. Cena said that it's a very small part, but that the movie is hysterical.
