Edge Is Not Sure That Shinsuke Nakamura "Will Get There," Talks Shane McMahon Bump Expectations

Recently on E&C's Pod Of Awesomeness, sports entertainment greats Edge and Christian weighed in on WWE Hell In A Cell. Notably, the Edge and Christian talked about the WWE Championship match between Shinsuke Nakamura and defending champion Jinder Mahal and whether Nakamura will succeed on WWE's main roster. Also, Edge talked about SmackDown Live Commissioner Shane McMahon's performance at HIAC.

On the subject of Nakamura vs. Mahal at Hell In A Cell, Christian argued that the match was in a "tough spot" with 'The Artist' still carving out his own identity in the WWE Universe.

"I think it was in a tough spot," Christian noted. "It's kind of hard. I mean, it's the world title match. It should be able to follow [anything]. Yeah, it's just I think when it's on a card like that, it's just put in a tough spot when you have a guy in Nakamura, like we talked about before, who is still trying to find his way to what he can be and he's not quite there yet, but we've seen glimpses of it. And I think it was just kind of a tough spot."

Apparently, Edge is not entirely convinced that Nakamura will ever "get there" and explained that it just goes to show how different the WWE's main roster is from other pro wrestling promotions.

"It's strange with Nakamura, man, because, like you've said, we've seen his matches with AJ [Styles] in New Japan [Pro-Wrestling] and everything. With Randy [Orton], I've seen it. And with Sami [Zayn], I've seen it. But that match too, man, I really loved that match and after that, it's like, anything else is going to be tough to live up to."

Edge opined, "I mean, maybe [Nakamura will "get there"]. Maybe. Who knows? It's a different beast entirely. People can blame it on booking, this, that, or the other. I don't know. I think it's weird. It just goes to show how different places to wrestle are completely different environments."

With respect to McMahon's effort against Kevin Owens inside Hell In A Cell, Edge suggested that the audience anticipating 'Shane-O-Mac”s cage bump altered the match.

"I mean, it's Shane, right? So you know he's going to fall off of something," Edge said. "You know it's coming and what's difficult about that sometimes is that the crowd, they know that, so they wait for that. Do you know what I mean? So sometimes you pigeonhole yourself, you trap yourself. When you're the guy who falls off of buildings, they're going to wait for you to fall off the building."

Edge added, "I've enjoyed the whole storyline and the fact that Kev is always the guy who talks about family, he made it about family, so it was interesting. It was really good."
