AEW's Jeff Jarrett On TNA Sacrifice Main Event Injury: 'It Ain't Ballet, Kid'
The main event of TNA Sacrifice ended abruptly after TNA World Champion Mike Santana's challenger, Steve Maclin, went down after Santana hit him with a kick to the jaw. Maclin fell into the ropes and the match was stopped by referee Alice Edwards, allowing for officials to check on Maclin, who was evaluated for a concussion. TNA co-founder and current AEW star Jeff Jarrett spoke about the ending to the match on his "My World" podcast alongside co-host Conrad Thompson.
"I hate that. I haven't seen it, but I mean... Nothing reckless," Jarrett said. "Again, Conrad, I may be speaking out of turn, but, it ain't ballet, kid."
Thompson confirmed the details of the match stoppage, and said they did something he never sees in wrestling anymore, a company taking care of the athlete. He said putting the safety of athletes first isn't some "new age bulls***" and that it's long overdue. Thompson gave kudos to TNA for stopping the match, despite it being a main event championship bout. Jarrett agreed that times are changing for the better.
"Hats off to everyone. It is so difficult, that's why I applaud them," Jarrett said. "It's really hard to make the right decision in the heat of the moment, because you're like, 'Is he hurt? Is he not?' Obviously, all signs pointed to Mr. Maclin needing to take at least a breather and call it. It happens, man. Not a ballet. What we do is not ballet. I hope he's feeling better."
After the stoppage, Maclin took to X (formerly Twitter) to thank everyone for their concern. He posted that he was "bulletproof" and "you can't f****** kill me."
