MVP Comments On Whether He'd Accept AEW World Title Run If Tony Khan Offered

Across a career spanning over 20 years, MVP hasn't often held championship gold, and when he did, it would either be tag team or mid-card championships. Considering his history in the industry, could it finally be time for MVP to win "the big one" in AEW? Not likely, according to MVP himself. He discussed the reasons why on a recent episode of his "Marking Out" podcast.

"Once I got hurt, then my wrestling was less and less to the point where it just stopped being. Even now with AEW, when I lace up the boots, it's an attraction. It's like, 'Oh man, MVP's gonna wrestle?'" the veteran said.

He then expressed how professional wrestling is an ego-driven business, but he tries to be honest with himself, and as a manager or in a backstage role, he could see his career continuing for the next twenty years. "But physically? My ability to wrestle at a high level is deteriorating because of time," he admitted. "I don't have the explosiveness that I used to and — this is me being real with you — I don't have the desire. My passion for actually getting in the ring and having that match isn't what it used to be."

"If Tony says, 'Hey, I want you, Bobby, and Shelton to do a trios match,' I'm ready. Especially if I'm doing a tag match! But if Tony said, 'Hey, as a gift to you for your career, on the way out the door, I'd like to give you an AEW Championship title run.' I would say no."

MVP also stated that he doesn't believe he'd be able to compete at the level that would do the title justice. "I don't want to work that hard!" he added, laughing. "My friends beat people up and I talk about it!"
