Eddie Kingston Pulled From AEW Continental Cup, Replacement To Be Determined On ROH PPV

AEW star Eddie Kingston has been pulled from the AEW Continental Challenge Cup, AEW President Tony Khan revealed in a live stream on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, ahead of Ring of Honor's Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view. Khan announced that Kingston is not medically cleared to compete, and won't be wrestling in the quarterfinals of the tournament.

"I had been hoping Eddie Kingston would be cleared to compete tonight here at Death Before Dishonor," Khan said in the live stream. "Also, Eddie Kingston's set to compete in the quarterfinals of the Continental Cup tomorrow. Eddie has a medical issue, the doctors will not clear him to wrestle. Thankfully, Eddie's going to be okay and I'm very, very glad about that."

Kingston, the winner of the first-ever AEW Continental Classic with a victory over Jon Moxley in 2023, was slated to take on Claudio Castagnoli on "AEW Collision." Khan revealed that a "play-in match" will be contested at Death Before Dishonor, pitting Adam Priest against Daniel Garcia to determine who will face Castagnoli on Saturday.

Further information about Kingston's medical condition wasn't immediately available, but Khan reiterated he was going to be okay throughout the stream. The star had been wrestling in ROH in recent memory, and had just made his return to AEW programming.

Kingston defeated Jake Doyle in the first round of the tournament on the August 8 edition of "Collision." Garcia earned his shot in the tournament off a victory over Alec Price in ROH this week, and Adam Priest scored a recent victory over El Phantasmo.
