Dave Meltzer Explains Why He Hasn't Been On Recent Episodes Of Dark Side Of The Ring

VICE TV's "Dark Side of the Ring" is now in its seventh season. This season opened with its first ever two-hour premiere with the first three hours being dedicated to Jeff Jarrett and the history of TNA Wrestling. Over the seasons, many talking heads have been featured to give their version of events of certain topics. One of the most featured people from the earlier seasons was wrestling historian Dave Meltzer. With all of his knowledge of pro wrestling, it made perfect sense to include him. However, he hasn't been involved for a while.

During a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer revealed why he thinks he's no longer featured. He thinks they should've asked him to be on the episode about Missy Hyatt. Meltzer says that one of the last times he was on there, they had Eric Bischoff cut a promo on him out of nowhere and it had nothing to do with the show's topic. When Meltzer saw it, he thought they were writing him off the show. "In fact, that's what they did. They've got their experts that they've gotta protect and those guys don't like me. I actually think the probable reason was 'The Tale of the Territories' episode on Hawaii was so bad and I said it was. I mean, you can't just be making things up. They acted like Peter Maivia was the promoter there during the glory days and it was Ed France." Meltzer said there was too much historical inaccuracy on that episode.
