JBL Says This Current WWE Star Could Reach John Cena's World Title Record

John Cena enjoyed a 17th and final world title run last year, capturing the Undisputed WWE Championship and breaking Ric Flair's record-setting 16-time world champion milestone. At this stage, while Cena is on top of the ranking, there's only one man who has a realistic chance of breaking the record any time soon — Randy Orton.

"He's only, what, three away from Cena? You know, Randy could make it, man!" JBL said during an episode of "Something To Wrestle." "Just twenty years ago, what Randy is now would be considered old; now it's like [he isn't] old anymore. He's in better shape now than he was back in 2008. I mean, he looks freaking amazing! ... Randy could end up besting John Cena's record, or tying that record, or certainly getting close. I mean, another championship or two, which I certainly think he'll have."

At 14 reigns and tied with Triple H, Randy Orton still has two championship wins left to tie with Cena, plus a third if he hopes to best that all-time record. Orton had admitted that he does at least have the goal of capturing one more world championship, and "The Viper" pointed out that his pedigree as a third-generation pro wrestler makes the sport all the more important to him, which makes the idea of another world title reign something he doesn't take lightly.
