Bully Ray Praises Dragon Lee, WWE Men's Intercontinental Title Match On Raw
Bully Ray was full of praise for this past week's "WWE Raw" in Mexico, especially the match for the Intercontinental Championship between Chad Gable and home hero Dragon Lee.
Gable and Lee put on an action-packed, fast-paced match on Monday night's show, where the latter came close to dethroning the champion. Speaking on "Busted Open," Ray applauded Lee's performance in the match, stating how he has been at the top of his game in his last few matches in WWE.
"In the past month, I'm going to call it four to six weeks, Dragon Lee had an amazing match with Rey Fenix that put Rey Fenix into the finals against Penta, and Dragon Lee had an amazing match with Chad Gable last night. I want to give Dragon Lee his props this morning. My god, what a great partner to be in the ring with, to tear the house down," said Ray.
The former WWE star held the match between Lee and Gable in such high regard that he wondered if the main event between Penta and Roman Reigns for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship could live up to it, given the standard set by the Intercontinental Championship match.
"Because I did not know if the main event could follow what we got from Gable and Lee. In my heart, as far as psychology is concerned and the styles make a fight, I know it's possible. But after all of the emotional energy we got from that crowd with Dragon Lee and Gable, I was like, 'Wow, this is going to be hard to follow.' Like, I could picture those two guys walking back through the curtain and looking at Roman and Penta and going, 'Follow that.'"
Ray said the ECW locker room would often challenge others to do better than what they had showcased in their matches, which he thinks many matches on this past week's "Raw" were able to do, particularly the Lee-Gable clash.
