Former ROH Star Flip Gordon Provides Update On Military Career

Former Ring of Honor star Flip Gordon hasn't wrestled in weeks, but as revealed on social media, there's a good reason for that.

On X, Gordon announced that he's re-enlisted in the Army National Guard, where he previously served his country.

"About a month ago, I re-enlisted into the Army National Guard because when my wife got her green card, our family only had six months to move to the United States," he said. "With this new chapter, I realized there was something that I hadn't finished yet. When I left the army, there was a lot of goals that I didn't get to accomplish because at the same time, my professional wrestling career started to take off, and I chose that dream. For 11 years, professional wrestling has taken me all around the world and given me a life that I never could have imagined. But now I have the opportunity to go back to the army and finish what I started. But let me make one thing clear. This does not mean that my professional wrestling career is over, not even close."

In recent years, Gordon has become a regular fixture for CMLL, with his near-600 day reign as CMLL World Historic Middleweight Champion coming to an end earlier this summer at the hands of Volador Jr. Regarding when fans can expect to see him back in a CMLL wrestling ring, Gordon didn't give an exact timeframe. He did promise that it'd be "soon," however.

Gordon, known as "The Super Soldier of Lucha Libre," last competed for CMLL on August 27 in Arena Mexico. There, he, Dragon Legendario, and Titan defeated El Elemental, Stuka Jr., and Volador Jr. in a Best-Two-Out-of-Three falls match. Volador Jr. still reigns as the CMLL World Historic Middleweight Champion.
