Jonathan Coachman Questions Sami Zayn's WWE Title Win

Sami Zayn defeating CM Punk to become the new Undisputed WWE Champion last Friday was met with a mixed reaction from professional wrestling fans, but somebody who was totally against the idea of the Canadian star winning the title was American sports analyst and former WWE star Jonathan Coachman.

In a response to a fan on X, Coachman claimed that Zayn is not world champion material, explaining that he's not a believable enough character to hold one of the company's top titles. 

"This is the problem a lot of you have. You think I have an issue with his success. You clearly don't know anything about how storylines and intrigue is done in wrestling ... It's about perception and if you want people to believe in someone or something it has to make sense. If the Rock was 6 feet 200 pounds being called the Rock wouldn't make any sense. There is a reason there are lower titles because not everybody's made to be a world champion ... I want Sammy to be successful. I don't know him personally. But this is about putting together a show with characters that are believable in that space that's it."

According to other reports this week, the decision to put the title on Zayn last Friday will make more sense once his storyline as champion is complete. However, the title change has also started rumors that the main event of Crown Jewel in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in November will be Zayn vs. Roman Reigns for the WWE Crown Jewel Championship. In recent years, the top men's and women's champions in WWE have gone head-to-head for the Crown Jewel Championship at the event, and with Roman Reigns currently holding the World Heavyweight Title, it's believed he will rekindle his feud with Zayn this upcoming fall.
