Perry Saturn Recalls Jumping From WCW To WWE As A Member Of The Radicalz

Retired wrestling veteran Perry Saturn originally made his WWE debut alongside Eddie Guerrero, Dean Malenko, and Chris Benoit as The Radicalz. The group was one of WWE's most strategic WCW acquisitions, with Guerrero and Benoit going on to become two of the pillars of the Ruthless Aggression era. 

In an interview on "INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet," Saturn looked back at the group's jump to WWE, recalling that it happened quickly. According to Saturn, the entire group felt like they were being held back in WCW, although he now admits they were wrong about their trajectory in the promotion. "Our problem when we left was because of Benoit and [Kevin] Sullivan, you know? And we were all getting residual heat for that," he recalled. 

Sullivan's then-wife Nancy began having an affair with Benoit after Sullivan booked the two in a storyline together, leading to a issues between the two and eventually a great tragedy. Saturn then claimed WCW wanted to negotiate new terms with them around the time they left, but when he got a call from Bruce Prichard in WWE, they all jumped ship.

The Radicalz left WCW not long before the promotion went under, and looking back, Saturn noted how impressive their contracts were in WWE, claiming they were given everything they wanted other than first-class airfare.

"I own all my intellectual properties. Every 30 days they can release you from your contract — they couldn't release us. My money was guaranteed, every penny, no matter what. If you fired me today, you still have to pay me all my money; all that s**t and [Vince McMahon] didn't even bat an eye at it," Saturn further added.

Coming into WWE, he explained that the style in WWE was very different and they all struggled to adjust. "They don't give you direction, you figure it out on your own," he added. Saturn also admitted that he and Benoit were more stiff than the WWE guys were used to, and claimed that he got into trouble when R-Truth suffered an injury because of Benoit. "Prichard doesn't believe me; he sees the tape of the match, Benoit gave him the concussion! But I was the guy you'd blame."

When he reflected on Eddie Guerrero as a wrestler and whether he knew his late friend would be a star, Saturn simply stated that Guerrero was the best worker he'd ever been in a ring with. "He's so good, and no matter what you do, he can make you look good!" he recalled. "Chris was a great worker, but Eddie was great and smooth, you know? No matter what you wanted to do, Eddie could do it."
