AEW's FTR Explains How They Fell In Love With Tag Team Wrestling
What made Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood fall in love with tag team wrestling?
For the former AEW World Tag Team Champions, the answer goes much deeper than simply finding a successful partner. In Wheeler's case, it extends back to his childhood, where he and his brothers frequently fought in the backyard. In the year following, that passion for tag team wrestling then evolved into something even bigger.
"I don't know if it's because you have the extra bodies out there, and there's so many ways you can do misdirection behind the ref's back, to draw the attention where you want to draw it. There's just something special about having that type of chemistry when it's going well and when it's done right," Wheeler told SB Nation in a recent interview.
For Harwood, his love for the art dates back to the time of the legendary video game console known as Super Nintendo.
"I remember having my friends over and playing Saturday Night Slam Masters on Super Nintendo, and two of us could play on the same team," he said. "It was three friends. Two of us could play on the same team, and the other one was pretending to be the manager without the controller. I remember from there, that's where I, honestly, as weird as it sounds, that's where I fell in love with tag wrestling because, just a small bond through that video game that I got to make with three friends down my street was something I'll never forget."
Wheeler and Harwood joined forces in real-life under the banner of WWE, where they were originally named The Mechanics. Later as The Revival, they captured the NXT, Raw, and SmackDown Tag Team Championships, making them the first Triple Crown Tag Team Champion in WWE history.
Since signing with All Elite Wrestling in 2020, Wheeler and Harwood have made even more history as FTR, now three-time AEW World Tag Team Champions. Their latest reign came to an end in May 2026 when Adam "Edge" Copeland and Christian Cage defeated them in an "I Quit" Match.
