Will Ospreay has vowed to be a fighting AEW World Champion, but at AEW WrestleDream 2026, a new stipulation match could prove to be a task too great for the "Aerial Assassin."

It was announced during the October 3 episode of "AEW Collision" that at WrestleDream, the AEW World Championship will defended in the first-ever Clockwork Carnage match. The match was actually trialed at Pro Wrestling EVE's "EVE 155: Global Thunder Queens Attack" event on October 2, with Ospreay booking the match himself and getting the seal of approval from Tony Khan to bring the stipulation to AEW.

The match works in two stages. A total of eight AEW stars will take part with two men starting the bout. After three minutes, another performer will enter until all eight men have entered, but if someone is pinned or forced to submit but the final man enters the match, they officially eliminated. Once the last entrant is in, the second stage of the match begins as the remaining participants compete in a 15 minute Iron Man Match where every fall counts. At the end of the 15 minutes, the man with the most falls will be victorious and leave WrestleDream as the AEW World Champion.

However, there is no guarantee that Ospreay will even be in the match as he will be making his second defense of the AEW World Championship this Tuesday at AEW Grand Slam France. Ospreay will go one-on-one with Kazuchika Okada with the title on the line, where the winner will move on to WrestleDream and attempt to defend the title in the new stipulation match. As for who the challengers will be, the first qualifying match for Clockwork Carnage will also take place in Paris as Samoa Joe will take on Jack Perry. The rest of the field will be revealed in the lead up to the big event on October 17.
