The Young Bucks made history at AEW All Out 2026 by becoming the first-ever four-time AEW World Tag Team Champions, defeating Adam Copeland and Christian Cage and FTR in a ladder match. However, the hard work is only getting started for Matt and Nick Jackson as their first title defense has been made official for AEW WrestleDream 2026.

It was announced during the October 3 episode of "AEW Collision" that The Young Bucks will defend their titles against Kyle Fletcher and Kevin Knight of the Don Callis Family. Fletcher and Knight became the number one contenders to the World Tag Team Championships at All Out by defeating Darby Allin and Steven Borden, though that win was via referee stoppage as Borden suffered a legitimate concussion which forced the match to be stopped.

Fletcher and Knight are undefeated in their past four matches as a duo, including a win over the current champions back at the Rebel Heart edition of "AEW Dynamite" in September. However, that was tables match where Fletcher and Knight received the help of FTR. There is also a chance that Fletcher walks out of WrestleDream as a double champion as he will be challenging Darby Allin for the AEW TNT Championship at AEW Grand Slam France on October 6.

Elsewhere on the WrestleDream card, Thekla will challenge for the AEW Women's World Championship, a title currently held by Mercedes Mone. However, Mone will defend her title against Queen Aminata at Grand Slam France, with the winner facing Thekla at WrestleDream. The AEW World Championship will be on the line in the main event in the first-ever Clockwork Carnage Match, a combination of the Casino Gauntlet Match and a bout not too dissimilar from WWE's Iron Survivor Challenge. Will Ospreay is the current champion, but he defends his crown against Kazuchika Okada at Grand Slam France, meaning there's no guarantee he walks into WrestleDream as the champion.
