Former WWE Star David Otunga Comments On CM Punk's 'Tremendous' Body Transformation
Upon his return to WWE following his loss at WrestleMania 42, CM Punk had a significantly bulkier physique, which fans first noticed in Punk's social media posts. Due to the sheer size he gained, some even questioned whether or not Punk's body transformation been natural, but former WWE star David Otunga believes the veteran is simply taking his physique seriously.
"CM Punk's gone under a tremendous body transformation," Otunga noted on his YouTube channel, expressing that he's proud of his former Nexus stablemate. He then recalled being on the road at the same time as Punk during his first WWE run, and the veteran began going to the gym with a serious mindset. "I was squatting and he came up and asked me a question, and he's like: 'Clearly, you do this for a long time, how come you're not wearing a [squatting] belt?'
Otunga explained that he never needed a belt, and by telling Punk, the veteran seemed more intrigued than confused, which has remained at the back of his mind all these years later. "It stuck out to me because I was like, 'Yo, he really is serious about this now," Otunga recalled. "He's humble enough and ... realized he's a beginner in working out, and asked me questions, where I'm clearly a beginner at wrestling — I have to ask him a ton of questions about wrestling, but he deferred to me in the gym."
The interaction left such an impression on Otunga, that he claims he's been pulling for Punk all these years and wants to see him succeed and improve his physique, noting that he thinks Punk is in the greatest shape of his life today.
