AEW's Tony Khan Comments On 'My First Day Working For Skydance'
Warner Bros. Discovery, media partner of AEW, officially merged with Paramount Skydance on Tuesday, creating the company simply known as "Skydance," and AEW President Tony Khan gushed about the merger in a pre-"AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam Paris" stream on social media. Khan took to X (formerly Twitter) ahead of the show, airing a night early this week, and briefly spoke about Skydance ahead of running down what was to come on "Dynamite."
"My first time here in Paris was with Warner Bros. as we were preparing to renew AEW's TV deal, and it's great being here in Paris today, my first day working for Skydance," Khan said. "It's great. I love working for Skydance and we're going to have a great future here. It's our first day, hand-in-hand with our Paramount brothers and sisters here at Warner Bros. and it's going to be a great, great future for AEW and it begins on Tuesday night 'Dynamite: Grand Slam' tonight."
How AEW will fare following the merger has been a hot topic of discussion, with Khan adamant that AEW will continue to grow and be stronger under Skydance. AEW's current media rights deal is set to continue through the start of 2028, and it could be extended into 2029 with an option, so immediately implications for the company are not currently known.
Khan has also touted his relationship with Skydance CEO, David Ellison. Ahead of AEW All Out 2026, he said during a pre-show live stream that Ellison is someone who "loves professional wrestling and loves sports." Khan said he's worked with Ellison in the NFL, via NFL Films/CBS, and said he's going to be a great leader.
