At WWE WrestleMania XL, fans saw Cody Rhodes conclude his championship dreams and "finish his story" against Roman Reigns after suffering a defeat to the "Tribal Chief" at the previous year's event. The moment has become a cornerstone of his career, but according to Rhodes while appearing on the "Flagrant" podcast, he wasn't the centerpiece of that evening.

"Roman, on that night, changed our industry," Rhodes said, giving the honor to his rival, despite their heated feud. "So it had nothing to do with me." He explained that he feels uncomfortable taking all the credit for the feud and the moment he captured the belt, pointing to all the internal changes WWE underwent around that time, including new management and potential distributors. "That moment, I would say, is not about me."

When it comes to his part, Rhodes plainly stated that he's just happy to have been included in everything, once again refusing to take credit for WrestleMania XL. He admitted that the only time he would have taken credit for the storyline was if he was a heel, in which case he'd state that WrestleMania XL was the greatest night in all of wrestling.

"That moment is 110% Roman Reigns," Rhodes continued to assert. "There is an old wrestling saying that one of my favorite wrestlers [used to say]. He'd say: 'There's a couple matches on here that are paying for everybody's flights.'" Based on the quote, Rhodes suggested that he doesn't think anyone but the top star needs to worry about drawing the audience, indicating that he saw Reigns as the draw while he was supporting him at WrestleMania XL.
