Indie Star Marcus Mathers Announces Departure From WWE ID Program
After reports revealed that former WWE ID Women's Champion Laynie Luck's time in the WWE ID program had come to an end earlier this week, fellow independent wrestling star Marcus Mathers took to social media on Friday to announce his departure, as well. Mathers took to X (formerly Twitter) to post a statement.
He said as of this week, his time with WWE ID had come to an end after two years, which he called "incredible." Mathers said he "gained invaluable knowledge" as well as friendships and memories.
"I want to thank WWE for their time!" Mathers wrote. "Time is the most valuable thing any of us can give... Now my next chapter awaits and it's up to me and my hunger to take me there. I'm in the drivers seat. I'm going to show up EVERYWHERE to fight ANYONE."
In his post, Mathers plugged some upcoming matches, after saying he trained in the Dungeon after his WWE ID chapter closed with "some of the hungriest people in the world." He mentioned his upcoming match on Friday against Amazing Red for the Crown Jewel Championship at House of Glory, as well as a Saturday bout against Nick Gage, and matches Sunday and Monday.

The Philadelphia native last wrestled Conan Lycan in a dark match before "WWE NXT" on October 6. Before that, he faced Action Andretti for the ROH World TV title at WrestlePro Kross the Line. In recent months, Mathers appeared for GCW, JCW, Limitless, and more. The star has already held multiple titles throughout his independent career, most recently the Undisputed IWTV Independent Wrestling World Championship.
