Details On Creative Frustration Regarding GUNTHER's Current WWE Booking
Questions have reportedly been raised about GUNTHER's booking in WWE, with a report suggesting that some backstage personnel are uncertain about the company's plans for him.
Some have argued that GUNTHER's booking has been underwhelming since he retired several WWE legends, and a new report by "Wrestlevotes on Fightful Select" has revealed that some members of the company's creative team are unhappy with it. The outlet has claimed that the people that they spoke to backstage in WWE are frustrated with how GUNTHER has been booked in recent times on "WWE SmackDown."
The report added that its sources were unsure how GUNTHER could be used to build on the momentum he gained after retiring the likes of John Cena and AJ Styles. Questions have also been raised about whether WWE had a clear plan for him after his retirement match against Cena. A source that the outlet spoke to was unsure about the direction for his character on the blue brand.
The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion has remained in and around the world title picture, even taking out current Undisputed WWE Champion Sami Zayn on the October 2 edition of "SmackDown." Curiously, he has also been feuding with Danhausen, an unusual pairing given that Danhausen is a comedy character while GUNTHER has a more serious gimmick. On last week's "SmackDown," GUNTHER attacked Danhausen before the bell rang to signal the start of their match, but Finn Balor came to Danhausen's rescue, who is another star currently feuding with GUNTHER.
