Tony Khan Says He's Had Conversations With Skydance CEO David Ellison About AEW
All Elite Wrestling President Tony Khan continues to sing the praises of Skydance CEO David Ellison following AEW's media partner, Warner Bros. Discovery, officially merging with Paramount to create the new company earlier this month. During the press conference following AEW WrestleDream on Saturday, Khan continued to laud the work of Ellison, and said the pair have been in contact with one another.
"I've had a conversation with David Ellison about the future of AEW," Khan said. "I've had a few great conversations with David Ellison about AEW and he is very excited to be a partner of AEW and with us. To be now Skydance, means Warner Bros. and Paramount under the same roof and this means more exciting opportunities. More resources. Warner Bros. is going to be stronger... I think he's been fantastic for Paramount and he's a great partner for us with the NFL. He's going to be a great partner for AEW with Warner Bros. He's somebody who's the same age as me. He's a wrestling fan. I think that's really exciting for us."
AEW's current media rights deal will see the company air "AEW Dynamite" and "AEW Collision" on TBS and TNT until at least 2028, with an option year available. At the time the deal was announced, Variety reported it was valued at up to $150 million per year.
Following the merger becoming official, Khan took to his pre-show social media live stream to comment on "his first day working for Skydance." The AEW official has remained positive throughout the process, and noted again during the WrestleDream press conference that he has believed this option is the best for his company.
