Billy Gunn's AEW run saw him going from a backstage coach to accompanying his sons, Austin and Colten, as The Gunn Club. Eventually, he'd take on his "Daddy A**" gimmick alongside The Acclaimed, even winning the AEW World Trios Championships with Max Caster and Anthony Bowens. Detailing his AEW tenure on "Inside The Ropes," Gunn explained that he wasn't expecting to have a career resurgence in his late 50s and early 60s.

"Yeah, so my contract, I had 12 dates a year. Like, I really wasn't gonna wrestle, but I told Tony [Khan], 'If you need me to, I'll do some here and here and there,'" he explained. Gunn added that he had two contracts with AEW, one as a talent and the other in a backstage role.

"And then, lo and behold, they crack me out and then I'm working both shows. I'm working all the time, about to fall apart," he laughed. When asked about how it felt to go up against talent considerably younger than him, Gunn credited that ability to the fact that he was never out of shape, and asserted that he could always "hang" with the young guys. "No matter what they do, I can still — it's going to hurt a little while — I can go if I need to."

The 62 year-old shared his belief that, at his age, he's not supposed to be in the ring anymore, but he loves to work out for his health and was still in shape to perform. "[Working out] also lets me still hang with my kids, and Anthony, and those guys, and when I need to work, I can work," Gunn said.
