In 2019, Kofi defeated Bryan Danielson at WrestleMania 35 to become WWE Champion, the crowning moment of the fan-driven "KofiMania". The brief time in WWE's history is one its most important, especially in the last decade. The fans' organic support forced WWE to pay attention and propelled him to becoming the champion that WWE never planned for. Although his title reign came crashing down in seconds, "KofiMania" is still talked about with awe and respect.

On The Mick and Kenny Show, Kofi reflected on "KofiMania" and how when he went to work every week, it was perfect, but it did come at the cost of Mustafa Ali. Kofi doesn't know what would've happened if Ali had stayed healthy and if it would've been MustafaMania instead.

"It felt great because winning the WWE Championship was a childhood dream come true. When I was a little kid, that's all I ever used to dream about was being a WWE Superstar. We would have Royal Rumbles with all the kids in my neighborhood, in my yard. And whoever won we'd picture ourselves being at WrestleMania. For me it was a dream come true and I'm very fortunate for that moment. It's never lost on me, there were so many people that were affected positively. The first African-born champion in the history of the business is a big deal."
