WWE HOFer Kevin Nash Thinks MITB Title Match Made A Statement
Roman Reigns retained the WWE World Heavyweight title against LA Knight at Money in the Bank, a match Kevin Nash believes set a standard for the night.
The match opened the show at the PLE, where the duo put on a showing that took fans through a series of emotions. Nash said on "Kliq This" that he enjoyed it despite being convinced beforehand that Reigns wouldn't lose.
"I knew he wasn't going to lose," began Nash. "It was the opening match. It was kind of a 'follow that' motherf***ers match. You know, they had a great match. I thought LA Knight was great. I thought Roman was great. I thought there was some great false finishes."
Nash pointed out one factor outside the pro wrestling ring that could have convinced WWE's creative team to keep the title on Roman Reigns: the "Street Fighter" movie. The WWE Hall of Famer argued that the creative team would have wanted Reigns, who played Akuma in the movie, to appear on the red carpet still holding the world championship.
"So, it's like, do you put this movie out, which they're hoping does huge, huge numbers; it's Street Fighter, you've got Roman as one of the featured guys. And do you want the water cooler jargon to be, 'Hey, that guy is so-and-so in the movie. You know, he used to be the WWE champion up until Saturday when he got beat.' Or do you just say, 'Hey, man, that's the WWE champion.' Like, this is one of those moments in life where we don't get these moments as pro wrestlers very often — to be on a red carpet and to be a star and to be our champion," wondered Nash.
Reigns seems to have moved on from Knight, with him and the rest of the Bloodline feuding with 946 as the two groups seem to be set to battle it out at Survivor Series.
