Becky Lynch Spent Her First Years In WWE Overthinking Everything
Becky Lynch started her wrestling career early on in life, but by 19, she stepped away for six years before returning in 2013 when she signed with WWE. During an interview on "So U Think U Can Sports?" Lynch admitted that she didn't know if there was a path for her in pro wrestling after her setback, until WWE ended up taking a chance on her.
"Very grateful for it, because it was this thing that I started so young and that I loved, and I kind of had a knack for, and I didn't have a knack for, God, anything else," she recalled. "When I left it, it kind of left this void — for fighting, and for being artistic, and creative. ... I wanted to [go back to wrestling] so bad, and then [WWE] signed me, and then I worried I was going to get fired every day for the next two/three years." Lynch added that her fears of being fired weren't because of her past injuries, opining that she believed she just sucked. "I wasn't very good; I would overthink everything," she admitted.
Lynch has claimed on several different occasions over the years that she was afraid she'd be fired during her early years in "NXT," but in one interview thanked Dusty Rhodes for keeping her going at the time. According to "The Man," Rhodes would often go to bat for her backstage and likely had a soft spot for her because she was somewhat of a outsider in the locker room.
