Tyron Woodley Hurts Carlos Condit, Preparing Next For A Title Shot
Tyron Woodley was ranked number 11 in the welterweight division, but that will change drastically after UFC 171. In the second round, Woodley injured the knee of the number two ranked welterweight Carlos Condit to land the eventual TKO win. There's no doubt in Woodley's mind what is next.
"We know what's next," said Woodley post-fight. "The title, I am going to use my performance money from the TKO to buy Dana White a Metro PCS phone."
Prior to the co-main event of UFC 171, Woodley had blown up White's phone begging for a top name. He got that in Condit.
"I stepped up when nobody would," said Woodley. "It's time for my season."
Woodley, a former Strikeforce fighter, improves to 3-1 under the UFC banner. The win over Condit was his second in a row, with the other stoppage being from Josh Koscheck at November's UFC 167.
Condit limped out of the Octagon with the help of his trainers. The former UFC interim welterweight champion was in obvious pain and there's no exact word about the severity of his injury.
