Jade Talks About Who TNA Should Sign, Past TNA Appearances, Praise From Other Wrestlers, More

TNA's Jade and Marti Belle continue to go on a tear, and last Friday's Impact was no different. The two have aligned with TNA Knockouts Champion Taryn Terrell and have subsequently protected her throughout her title defenses. I had the chance to speak to Jade last week, and she opened up about her indy career, TNA contract and several other topics. You can also check out part one of our interview at this link.

You were an athlete in high school and college, do you think that helped prepare you for pro wrestling?

"I think it did as it pertains to conditioning, just getting my body used to running around all over the place, along with the athletic ability that comes with it. I do think it has prepared me for what I'm doing now."

You were one of the more high profile female indy wrestlers around, and we've seen people like Lance Storm and Shelton Benjamin praise your work. What is it like to have guys of that caliber in the ring that endorsing you?

"That's a good question. I'm flattered by it. I don't think I'm anything special. It's something I'm just not used to, so I just try to work hard and try to make sure that I'm up to par with what everyone thinks I am, especially since I've been praised by those people. I just want to be the best. It's a privilege and an honor to be praised by those people."

Your friendship with Marti Belle really projects on screen. Did they approach you two together, or did one put in a good word for the other? How did it come about?

"It just happened by chance. We were on last year's Knockouts PPV together. I've done it three years in a row, and that was her first year. We didn't know this was going to happen. We got a phone call at the same time. I was excited about the news, so I told her, and she's like 'I got the same phone call, maybe we'll be doing something together!' It was all by chance, and we were just ecstatic about it. We would call and text each other every day. We were going into a new environment, but at least we had each other, so it wasn't as scary."

Did you ever expect a situation where your best friend would realize her dream at the same time you were?

"We've known each other for five years, and for the first few years of our relationship?friendship, we were like 'We'd be the most exotic team, we're so cool and unique.' We'd have our own song, entrance and color scheme. A couple years down the line, even a couple days ago we were talking about how we dreamed and now it's on TV. It was a daydream for both of us to imagine what it would be like to do that make lots of money, and to be what we are times ten on TV. That's exactly what happened."

You almost gave me a great headline with 'Jade and Marti Belle in a relationship,' then you took it away.

"Almost! (laughs)"

You mentioned that you worked with TNA for several one-off performances. Was there any talk of bringing you on full-time then?

"I live in Orlando, so I try not to get my hopes up or anything. I'll always be prepared, but try to be realistic as possible. So if they don't tell me anything, I won't hold out hope. If something happens, that's cool, if not, that's cool too. There wasn't anything other than 'are you free on this date?'"

You mentioned living in Orlando, which seemed to be a prime spot for you at this point of your career. You did a little work with NXT last year, was that in October? Did you get any feedback from that?

"I think it was October, but I don't know if I'm allowed to talk about that (laughs)."

What are some of the biggest obstacles you faced working your way up?

"Being a female, first off. You're always going to be judged for being a female in the wrestling business. Having to prove yourself to wrestle matches, then matches with guys. Proving that I can wrestle, that I'm not just a girly girl. There are a variety of challenges, but mainly being a female and treated as an athlete rather than a pretty girl."

If TNA could sign one female competitor, who would you suggest?

"Either Leva Bates (Blue Pants) or Alison Kay."

How long had you been talking to TNA before signing?

"I'm a realist. I feel old, so I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life. I wanted to settle down, but then again I wanted to wrestle for another ten years. Then I had my family. My mom wants me to do it, my dad doesn't want me to do it, my sister wants me to do it. It took me a while. I had to think about what I wanted to do with my life. At least I had my best friend. It's a challenge, it's something I haven't done before. It wasn't like the minute I got it, signed and sent it. I thought about it a couple days or a week or so, and decided I would do it. It wasn't that long."

How can the fans follow you on social media?

"I am a big Twitter fan, you can follow me at @JadeTNA. I love tweeting, I'm always tweeting back to fans. Any questions or comments, if you like me or not, I don't care. You can tweet me that you don't like me."
