Colt Cabana Talks Only Meeting With Vince McMahon And Why He Knew He Wouldn't Go Far In WWE, More

On episode 300 of The Art Of Wrestling, Colt Cabana conducted a Q&A with questions from fans. Cabana talked about getting signed by WWE, his one and only meeting with Vince McMahon, and wrestling as Dan Severn.

Cabana said that he only had one meeting with McMahon, but he left the interaction knowing that he probably would not last in WWE.

"I had one meeting with him and the big thing was I said, 'I'm a comedy wrestler'. I go, 'I love alternative comedy' and he goes, 'like Jackie Gleason?' And I was like, in my head, I was like, 'who the f–k is Jackie Gleason? I don't even know that. Like, I know the name, but I couldn't even tell you.' And it just goes to show you his, not his outdatedness, but just where he is in his head and his references. And when I referenced The State and I referenced Kids In The Hall to him, he had no clue who they were. And that's kind of the moment I realized, like, I don't think I'm going to go that very far [in WWE]."

With respect to wrestling as Dan Severn, Cabana said he did it during a tryout match for Martin Casaus, who is Lucha Underground's Marty 'The Moth' Martinez, as Cabana was told to wrestle as a heel. During the podcast, Cabana would not rule out another performance as Severn.

"I was so fed up with the developmental system that Martin, who is now on Lucha Underground as what, Marty 'The Moth'? He had a tryout match and they were like, 'Colt, want to do this tryout match?' And I was like, 'sure'. But they were like, 'but you're a heel'. I was like, 'alright' and I just dressed as Dan Severn and Kizarny had eyeliner that he's using, so I drew myself a moustache. And, like, [John] Laurinaitis and all those guys were just there watching and I was like, 'this is how much I don't give a f–k!' And I wrestled as Dan Severn. Maybe I'd do it again. I'd like to wrestle Dan Severn as Dan Severn and he's wrestling at AIW. Maybe that's a thing that will happen. Maybe that's a thing. You never know."
