A Look At The Interesting Recent Trademark Filings Of Luke Gallows And Karl Anderson

WWE Superstars Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson have been busy of late on the business front, applying for several professional wrestling trademarks. The time of this flurry of activity is interesting, given that the WWE contracts of Gallows and Anderson are set to expire in 2019.

As previously noted, Karl Anderson, through his business entity MG Karl Anderson, LLC, applied to trademark his ring name, 'Karl Anderson', on January 18, 2019; however, as of January 22, 2019, WWE's lapsed application for the trademark has been revived. In WWE's Petition To Revive The Abandoned Application, the promotion acknowledged that its failure to respond by the specified deadline was unintentional. It will be interesting to see what happens with both Anderson and WWE vying for the ring name.

Of note, WWE successfully registered "Luke Gallows" with the United States Patent And Trademark Office back in March 2017, which explains why WWE does not have to undertake the same process for Gallows of reviving an application for an abandoned trademark. With that said, Gallows, through his business entity, Wrestlemerica, LLC, applied to trademark 'Doc Gallows' on January 19, 2019. Of course, 'Doc Gallows' was the name popularized during Gallows' NJPW run, which followed the big man's stint with Impact Wrestling as D.O.C.

In addition to applying for 'Karl Anderson', the man behind 'Chad 2 Badd' applied for his other nickname, 'Machine Gun', on January 20, 2019.

Also previously noted, WWE applied to trademark "Botch Club With Gallows And Anderson" back in December 2018, though the future of that program is now in doubt. On a related note, on January 21, 2019, the business entities of Gallows and Anderson teamed up to apply for the "Talk'n Shop" trademark. Of course, Talk'n Shop is the title of the hilarious podcast featuring Gallows and Anderson. Perhaps we will see a return to the podcasting world by 'The Good Brothers', as the trademark application is specifically for the purpose of providing professional wrestling and pop culture podcasts, including video podcasts.

Also on January 21, 2019, Wrestlemerica, LLC applied for 'Good Brother' and its plural form, 'Good Brothers', as well as 'Big LG'. On January 24, 2019, Wrestlemerica, LLC applied for the trademark of 'Biz Cliz'.

Whether Gallows and Anderson are merely protecting their intellectual property to license back to WWE or they are planning to jump to AEW or elsewhere as 'Biz Cliz', Doc Gallows and Machine Gun, with their own platform, Talk'n Shop, exciting times are ahead for these good brothers, no matter what we might call them.
