Mark Henry Remembers Hulk Hogan, Says Only One WWE Star Could Join Him On Mt. Rushmore
WWE legend Mark Henry has explained what made Hulk Hogan stand out from the rest, and how he's the constant in everyone's Mt. Rushmore of wrestling.
Henry paid tribute to Hogan following his passing, stating that Hogan's flamboyant character was something that wasn't seen in pro wrestling before his arrival. While speaking on "Busted Open," he also said that Hogan was one of the first to successfully transition from pro wrestling to the silver screen, while he also made waves in mainstream media.
"I think that the number one thing that people remember is the flamboyance that Terry [Hogan] brought to the business. The fact that he was a big guy that could also work like a small guy when needed. Not always, but he did it very soundly, and he was a guy that transcended pro wrestling," he said. "He was a guy that, you know, even though Roddy Piper went to Hollywood and did the movies first, Hogan did it better for a long, long time, up until John Cena, The Rock, and Dave Bautista made their Hollywood debuts. Hogan was the best of it. And to get out into world and mainstream news and not just wrestling news or sports news was a big deal."
Henry believes there may not be another character like Hogan in pro wrestling, asserting how the late star features prominently in most people's Mt. Rushmore of wrestling, and feels that Roman Reigns is the only other person who can challenge that spot.
"I mean, it's hard press [if there would be another like Hogan]. Every Mount Rushmore has him on it. There's another list of 10 guys after the Mount Rushmore. Are they gonna do enough to get into that Mount Rushmore area? Roman Reigns is the only person that I see living right now that's in the top 10 that can get into that top four and bump somebody off the Mount Rushmore."
Earlier in the year, Henry had omitted Hogan from his Mt. Rushmore of wrestling, but said that it would be a coin flip between Hogan and Andre the Giant.
