WWE SmackDown Results 4/24 - Women's US Title On The Line, New Champions To Appear

Welcome to Wrestling Inc.'s live coverage of the "WWE SmackDown" after WrestleMania 42, airing live from the Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.

The road to WrestleMania found its terminus last weekend and following Monday's "WWE Raw" the destination is Backlash in Tampa, Florida, on May 9. And speaking of "Raw" and Backlash, Jacob Fatu will be returning to the blue brand tonight after appearing on Monday to challenge Roman Reigns to a World Heavyweight Championship match in Tampa.

Reigns could be heard at the end of Monday's show telling Jimmy Uso to talk some sense into him, having left Fatu with the decision to either rescind the challenge next Monday or proceed and live with the consequences.

Rhea Ripley, similarly, will be following up on her "Raw" appearance tonight, having teamed with Iyo Sky to defeat the Kabuki Warriors before saying her goodbyes. She dethroned Jade Cargill for the Women's Championship at WrestleMania, thus ensuring she had to switch brands moving forward.

Trick Williams will also be on the show having won a title at WrestleMania, dethroning Sami Zayn for the United States Championship. He is scheduled to be accompanied by Lil Yachty. Paige will be making her first appearance since winning the Women's Tag titles alongside Brie Bella, standing in for Nikki Bella, at WrestleMania.

There will also be a title on the line, Tiffany Stratton having defeated Jordynne Grace during last Friday's show to stamp her shot at the Women's United States Championship held by Giulia. "SmackDown" will start at 8 PM ET and can be watched on USA Network domestically as well as Netflix internationally.

As the show gets started, WWE releases are ongoing. The likes of the Wyatt Sicks, Kairi Sane, Aleister Black, Zelina Vega, and the Motor City Machine Guns are among names departing the company with more expected to come.

Jacob Fatu kicks off

Jacob Fatu kicks off "SmackDown" recalling what he had said to Roman Reigns on Monday. He says the truth is, Reigns is right, he's not ready. It's something he's been hearing for all of his life, and the crowd boos in disagreement.

"Roman, you say I'm not ready. Well step into this ring and prove it," he says.

The Usos' entrance music plays and out come Jey and Jimmy Uso. Jimmy starts off by saying they heard what he said on Monday when it comes to having more, and he hears him, and he can have all that and more. He points to Cody Rhodes and says he's ripe for the taking, just don't make a play at the "OTC."

He asks Fatu to join the family, fall in line and get his dues with their backing. The crowd chants Fatu's name and Jimmy takes umbrage, telling him not to pay attention to them.

Jey says it's too late for that, he made the challenge and now he's in the deep water. He says that he knows from experience, the only way forward is to step to Reigns, and go to war with him. Solo Sikoa's music plays and the Usos' little brother joins the discussion, flanked by the MFTs.

He says that they didn't bring Fatu to WWE, he did, and he shouldn't listen to them. He says if he wants to beat Reigns, then he can do that for him, but he will need an army. "And I have an army," he says.

Tama Tonga takes the microphone and questions why they are wasting their time with this, he calls Fatu a lost cause and says, "You think he can beat Roman? He can't even beat you."

Fatu has heard enough and superkicks Tama in the face. He turns to the Usos and MFTs both and says the only one he should be talking to is Roman Reigns. He says if Sikoa thinks he can't beat them, then they can have a singles match tonight to see whether that's the case.

Giulia (C) vs. Tiffany Stratton for the Women's United States Championship

A backstage segment shows Giulia and Kiana James being interviewed backstage by Cathy Kelley, with Giulia unhappy that she was left off the WrestleMania card and directing it towards her manager. James insists she had tried to negotiate for a match at WrestleMania. The segment ends with James blaming Kelley for hers and Giulia's tension.

Tiffany Stratton and then Giulia makes their entrances, and the match gets underway. The pair go back-and-forth in grappling and reversals with Giula making the first cover for a two-count before the pair exchange roll-up attempts. Giulia gets the first shot off after the separation and goes for the cover, but once again only for a two-count.

Stratton looks to get things done quickly with a rolling senton and attempted Prettiest Moonsault Ever, but Giulia pushes her off the ropes and delivers a draping neckbreaker off the apron and onto the floor as the show goes to commercial break.

The action returns to broadcast with Stratton just taking over with a deluge of running lariats. She delivers a handspring stunner using the ropes to reverse her momentum, goes for the cover only for a two-fall. Stratton goes up the ropes and Giulia follows her to hit an avalanche double underhook suplex, getting a two-fall as the action ramps up.

Stratton gets another rolling senton and goes for the PME, but Giulia counters it and cinches in a submission. Stratton rolls her up for a two and creates the separation. The pair exchange strikes and Giulia comes off better, hitting a knee strike but going for the cover.

Giulia goes for Northern Lights Bomb but Stratton gets out of it, slamming her and delivering the PME on the third attempt for the winning pinfall.

A skit plays featuring Danhausen and his latest play at The Miz. He is shown arriving at Miz's house, knocking on the door. Miz answers, Danhausen is not there, because he has appeared inside the house. Miz tells him to leave, he appears to oblige, but then Miz finds him in his pool.

Once more, Miz tells him to leave, specifically telling him to get out of his pool. Danhausen technically does so. Because as he points out, Miz has two pools and he relocated himself to the next one. Miz isn't satisfied with that, charging at Danhausen as he sidesteps him, sending Miz careering into the pool with a splash.

Brie Bella and Paige appear as Tag Team Champions

Cathy Kelley is back interviewing Stratton after her United States title win before Women's Tag Team Champions Brie Bella and Paige make their entrances.

Brie speaks first, saying it feels good to be standing in the ring as champion. She says even though she wishes she could have done it next to her sister Nikki Bella, she is glad she made the choice to call Paige up and wants to take the time to welcome her back.

The crowd chants "Welcome back" and Paige goes to speak, she apologizes because she is losing her voice after a hectic week. She says she is proud to be here standing next to Brie, and says it was a rough road to get here but she's glad to be back home.

She says that "SmackDown" is her house, and that prompts Charlotte Flair's music to hit preceding her entrance. Alexa Bliss follows up a few seconds behind her.

Flair says she thinks she can speak for the both of them when she says they're happy to see her back. Bliss agrees, even if she was the one to pin her. Flair continues to say that if Paige wants to prove it's her house, then she can think of no better way than to face her and Bliss. The crowd breaks into "Yes" chants, Paige says she's down, Brie says she's down and that they should do it tonight.

Flair hits a "Wooo!" and gestures for a referee, and that match will be underway after the next commercial break.

The match is already underway as the broadcast resumes with Brie in the ring being worked over by Flair and Bliss.

Paige tries to get in on the action but the referee prevents her, with the crowd chanting "We want Paige!" at the same time. Brie appears to make some room with a dropkick to Flair into the corner. Flair grabs her foot and prevents her from tagging out to Paige, only to get an enzuigiri to the face. But as Brie goes to tag Paige in, she is ripped from the apron by former NXT Women's Champion Jacy Jayne, throwing the match out.

Brie Bella & Paige def. Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss via Disqualification

Lainey Reid and Fallon Henley enter the ring and attack the other competitors in the match to signify Fatal Influence's arrival to the main roster.

A package plays covering Royce Keys' arrival on "SmackDown" to win last week's Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal, and he says that now he is here, no one is stopping him.

Cody Rhodes and his black eye arrive to address WrestleMania 42

Cody Rhodes says he wants to talk about how he left WrestleMania, and how despite everything he still made the decision to walk up the ramp and out of the venue by his own volition. He says that the moment you see him take any other exit is the moment this run comes to an end.

He says he knew he would not be medically cleared tonight, but he wanted to be on "SmackDown" to send a message to Randy Orton. But Orton is not here tonight. He says that he wants Orton to know that he gave his best shot, the punt, and it still wasn't enough to put him down.

He then says he wants to check the cocky and condescending Sami Zayn for calling him a golden boy backstage, and outsiders who felt the need to interfere in his WrestleMania feud need to stay away and mind their business.

Rhodes now wants to talk about the future, says he is easy to find, but hard to beat, and the invite is open to anyone who feels they can match that standard. With that, he leaves the ring and draws the segment to a close.

Up next is a backstage segment with Solo Sikoa and the MFTs. He tells them he wants them to go out there and bring back the Tag titles. Tama Tonga and JC Mateo leave, Tonga Loa remains, and asks, "What about Jacob?"

Sikoa says not to worry about Jacob, he will deal with him tonight. And next up will be the Tag Team Championship match as Damian Priest and R-Truth make their entrances.

Damian Priest & R-Truth (C) vs. JC Mateo & Tama Tonga for the Tag Team Championship

The match gets underway with R-Truth asking to be first in, Damian Priest obliges and it will be Truth and Tama locking up to get things started.

Tama takes the early advantage despite attempted comebacks from Truth, including the shoulder tackles adopted from Cena. Tama says "We can all see you," and hits a five-knuckle shuffle inspired elbow drop.

Truth manages to tag in Priest and he gets the advantage, with JC Mateo getting in his face on the apron. Tama uses that to run at Priest but it's telegraphed with a back elbow to stop him. Priest turns to pick back up with Tama but gets a cheap shot from behind by Mateo, Tama then sending him to the outside of the ring.

As the referee is distracted in the ring, Tonga Loa runs Priest down with a lariat on the outside. The challengers have the advantage going into the commercial break.

The broadcast resumes and Priest wipes out Mateo with a clothesline to create some well-needed space. He manages to tag Truth in and he runs the "Five Moves of Doom" gauntlet on Mateo complete with a five-knuckle shuffle. He hoists Mateo up for an Attitude Adjustment but Tonga Loa tries to enter the ring, Mateo slips from Truth's shoulders and Tama runs up behind him to take him out.

Priest breaks up the resulting cover as Mateo looks to have the titles won, tags back into the match and drops Mateo for the one-two-three.

Damian Priest & R-Truth def. JC Mateo & Tama Tonga via Pinfall to retain the WWE Tag Team Championship

Another skit with Danhausen and Miz at the latter's house. Danhausen tries the golf simulator, teeing off into Miz's crown jewels. He breaks a Slammy Award before making off with Miz's daughter's bicycle, but before he goes he has an interaction with Maryse as she arrives. They don't get a chance to say much before Miz runs up from behind Danhausen and launches cocoa powder at him.

Danhausen avoids it once more, sending the cocoa powder into Maryse as he rides off into the cul-de-sac.

Trick Williams and Lil Yachty appear with the Gingerbread Mascot

Trick Williams talks about WrestleMania and gets the crowd into another "Whoop that Trick!" chant. Lil Yachty says that the time for celebrity guests in wrestling has come to an end, yet he is still here, because he will be the Phil Jackson to Williams' Michael Jordan, basically making it clear he will be his manager moving forward.

They both go to celebrate at opposing corners, but the Gingerbread Mascot turns and whacks Williams across the back with a candy cane – a cane designed to look like candy, rather – and coerces Yachty to check on Williams before striking him down as well.

The mascot removes the mask to reveal Sami Zayn to boos from the crowd, drawing the segment to a close with the crowd booing Zayn as he walks out, cementing the heel turn.

Up next is a backstage segment with Royce Keys, Sikoa appears and says the offer is still open for him to join him before walking away, leaving the new arrival with food for thought.

Danhausen vs. The Miz

So this has been what the skits have been building to, up next is Danhausen vs. The Miz in singles action. Danhausen makes his entrance as the show goes to commercial break.

The broadcast returns and now it's The Miz making his entrance flanked by Kit Wilson. The bell rings and Danhausen takes Miz out with a crossbody, delivering a hurricanrana to launch Miz out of the ring. Wilson jumps up on the apron to distract Danhausen, which works and Miz takes the advantage.

Then Danhausen sits up a la Undertaker and curses Miz and Wilson as they boast on the apron, prompting pyro to go off in their face and allowing Danhausen to roll up Miz for the win.

Danhausen def. The Miz via Pinfall

Danhausen makes his escape as Miz gives chase, crawling under the ring and leaping over Wilson on his way out. Miz trips over Wilson, allowing Danhausen to complete his escape.

Rhea Ripley returns to Friday nights as Women's Champion

A package plays showcasing Blake Monroe to say she is coming soon to the main roster. As that package concludes, Rhea Ripley's music hits to precede the arrival of the WWE Women's Champion.

Ripley recaps her match with Jade Cargill at WrestleMania, and says she proved that she can go. But now Ripley is her to be a fighting champion and thus calls upon someone in the back to step up and call their shot.

Fatal Influence's music plays and the trio of Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley, and Lainey Reid re-emerge. Jayne goes to speak but the entire venue fills with constant boos. Jayne tries to continue as the crowd just continues to shower her with boos, with Jayne starting to go back and forth with them as they derail whatever it is she is trying to say to Ripley.

Through those boos comes a "Rhea!" chant along with some isolated "You Suck!" calls. Finally the crowd quietens completely as Ripley speaks. She says she found it impressive what she did earlier, but told her to stop while she was ahead. Henley chimes in, reigniting the boos, and Lainey Reid gets much the same as she takes her turn to speak.

Ripley says she has grown used to the numbers being against her, gesturing at the Women's title belt and saying that clearly it hasn't mattered. She calls on them to take their shot, and Jayne says she will find out soon enough that Fatal Influence is not afraid to throw hands.

Nick Aldis comes out and says that is good to hear, welcomes Jayne to "SmackDown" and books a singles match between her and Ripley to begin after the next commercial break.

Rhea Ripley vs. Jacy Jayne

The match gets underway as the broadcast returns and Ripley uses the initial collar-and-elbow tie up to plant Jayne's face on the mat.

Ripley and Jayne teeter closely to tying up with the Greco-Roman knuckle lock, but after some hand movement Jayne goes for a kick to the gut. It's caught by Ripley who then goes on to drop Jayne to the mat once more. Jayne takes some time to confer with her stablemates on the outside and reassess, coming back to seize waist control and hit Ripley on the back of the head.

Jayne delivers a hurricanrana but twice runs at Ripley in the corner and gets caught. Jayne sidesteps Ripley as she tries to get her through the ropes, running to the apron only to get caught in an electric chair position and dropped onto the apron by Ripley.

Fatal Influence gets involved and distracts Ripley long enough for Jayne to come back and take the advantage as the next commercial break gets underway.

The broadcast resumes with Jayne hitting a running neckbreaker and going for a cover, getting a two-count. But as she sought to push things further she received a capoeira kick to the face, allowing Ripley to rally back into the affair.

Jayne drops Ripley with a pump knee on the rope rebound and get another two-fall. Once again Ripley finds her way back into the fight and goes to the top rope, only for Jayne to rock the ropes and drop her onto the buckles. Jayne joins Ripley on the ropes but Ripley gets down and kicks her in the face.

Ripley hits Razor's Edge and a knee strike but only for a two-count yet again. Ripley headbutts Jayne and sets up for the Rip Tide, prompting Fatal Influence to run in the ring and attack her to call an end to the match.

Rhea Ripley def. Jacy Jayne via Disqualification

Ripley has no chance to celebrate her technical victory as the trio continue to beat her down, taking their leave as the champion laid battered in the ring to close the segment.

In a backstage segment, Jacob Fatu is preparing for his singles match with Sikoa as the Usos appear. Jimmy says that one way or another MFT will get involved, so they can keep an eye out and equalize where needed. Fatu says he doesn't need nor want any help, and walks away.

Jey says that he told Jimmy that he would be like that.

Another segment sees Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss being treated by WWE medical, Ripley joins them. Flair is unimpressed, and says she will be doing what Ripley failed to tonight when she gets her hands on Jayne next week.

A package plays to showcase Ricky Saints ahead of his arrival on "SmackDown" next week.

Solo Sikoa vs. Jacob Fatu

The match begins, Fatu and Sikoa lock up. Fatu forces Sikoa into the corner but Sikoa uses the separation to get the better of him for the timebeing. They both at one another looking for a shoulder block but just bounce off one another, Fatu drops Sikoa with a right hand takes him to the corner for some leveraged punches down. Sikoa fights out and goes for his own in the opposing corner.

Sikoa goes for a rebound but Fatu follows and plasters him with a flying forearm. He starts jawing with the MFTs on the outside and Sikoa gets a cheap shot in. Then with the referee distracted by Sikoa, Tama Tonga takes him out.

That prompts the Usos to emerge on the ramp, with Fatu calling after them and saying he doesn't need help, only allowing Sikoa to get more cheap shots in and extend his advantage as the final commercial break begins.

The broadcast returns and so too does Fatu's momentum, Sikoa berating him as he slowly beat him down in the middle of the ring, only to get a headbutt to create some space for Fatu. Fatu hits a hip attack to Sikoa seated in the corner, Tama gets up onto the apron, and distracts Fatu as Sikoa looks for the Spike.

Fatu has it telegraphed, but is once more halted by Mateo's interference as Tonga Loa distracts the referee. The Usos, meanwhile, continue to watch on.

Fatu takes out all three MFTs with a suicide dive before getting back into the ring. Sikoa hits a Spinning Solo and a subsequent splash, goes for the cover, but Fatu kicks out at the last fraction of a second.

Sikoa goes for the Spike, Fatu ducks it, superkicks Sikoa, follows up with a pop-up Samoan drop, and finishes the match off with the Mighty Moonsault.

Jacob Fatu def. Solo Sikoa via Pinfall

The MFTs jump Fatu after the match, bringing a chair into the mix. Fatu breaks free of Mateo and Loa holding him, taking out Tama and the rest of them singlehandedly. He delivers hip attacks to Tama and Mateo in the each corner, steel chairs rested across their heads, and then takes out Loa on the outside. He then puts Loa through the announcer's table and gets in the faces of the Usos on the apron, making a point to them.

He says he will see Reigns and the Usos on Monday night's "Raw" and this week's show draws to a close.
