Bully Ray Says WWE Has Found The 'Perfect Storyline' For Matt Cardona
The WWE Universe hasn't seen Matt Cardona in action much recently. A verbal confrontation between GUNTHER and his wife Chelsea Green naturally brought him back to it, though. According to WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray, it was an ideal way for him to do so, too.
"Here's the thing. This is a perfect storyline for Cardona to be heavily involved in," Ray said on "Busted Open Radio." "Why would you bring Matt Cardona back, not to really utilize him to his potential? Look at what Cardona is able to do on his own. You don't think what a little bit of the machine behind him. He could be successful. Let's use Cardona a little bit more out there.
"... I think people can relate to a boyfriend or a girlfriend, a husband or a wife, a loved one sticking up for another loved one, especially against a bully," he continued. "GUNTHER is a bully. It's very easy to get invested in. GUNTHER should beat the bloody out p*** of Matt Cardona, and Cardona keeps getting back up because he's defending the honor of his wife."
Cardona's encounter with "The Ring General" occurred on the August 14 edition of "WWE SmackDown," the same broadcast in which General Manager Nick Aldis initially stripped Green of the interim WWE Women's Championship. A heartfelt promo from Green later changed Aldis' mind and ensured that the title would stay around her waist for at least another 30 days.
As Green celebrated the small victory, GUNTHER interrupted, which in turn prompted Cardona to come out to defend her, both verbally and physically. GUNTHER won the physical wrestling match that followed, courtesy of a Boston Crab.
