Backstage News On Scrapped Original Concert Plan For WWE Sunday Night's Main Event

WWE has reportedly changed plans for the upcoming Sunday Night's Main Event, which included a concert.

The September 6 edition of Saturday Night's Main Event will be held on a Sunday, dubbed Sunday Night's Main Event, with WWE originally planning to have a concert featuring Lil Yachty, as per "WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select." The report says that Yachty's concert would have been the centerpiece of the show. However, the TKO-owned promotion has decided to alter its plans. This, the outlet claims, is because of the feedback they received from the last edition of Saturday Night's Main Event, which featured several New York Knicks stars at the event that took place in Madison Square Garden. WWE reportedly wants to make the upcoming show more wrestling-focused.

Despite moving away from the original idea of a Lil Yachty concert, WWE intends to make the rapper and Trick Williams the main focus of the show, which is evident by the attention given to them in the marketing material for the show. Yachty will be making his in-ring debut at the show, where he will face United States Champion Baron Corbin under an interesting stipulation. If Yachty can last more than five minutes in the ring with Corbin, his friend Williams will get another opportunity to regain the US Championship.

The last Saturday Night's Main Event, held on July 18, saw the appearance of the Knicks' Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns, with the former featuring in the closing segment between Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins, while the latter helped Danhausen get one over JD McDonagh.
