Will Ospreay Details Injury Recovery In Official AEW Vlog

AEW's Will Ospreay has discussed his surgery and how he was apprehensive that he wouldn't be able to wrestle after it.

Ospreay had to undergo neck surgery last year, and AEW documented his pre-surgery process and his thoughts, which recently aired on the promotion's YouTube channel. In the video, the Englishman detailed how he had to undergo a neck fusion, which terrified him as he was worried that it could shorten his career.

"I've three herniated discs in my C5, C6, and C7 that are pushing against my spinal cord, causing stenosis, I think it's called, and I need to have a fusion, which is kind of crazy because, I mean, years ago, I think even like 10 years ago, people would get a neck fusion and then their career would kind of be done. I'm completely terrified that I'm facing something that is going to alter and change my life forever," said Ospreay.

His wife and fellow AEW star Alex Windsor was scared for Ospreay when he was heading into surgery, but was confident that he would bounce back and recover to return to the ring. Ospreay said that it's a blessing to have Windsor supporting him and also stated that wrestling at All In at Wembley Stadium was a great motivation for him to return to the ring. The English star also revealed that AEW CEO Tony Khan was paying for his surgery, which he said cost more than his house, stating that he will be eternally grateful to him.

"Tony's paid for the entire thing, which was like crazy, man. Like, I saw that bill. Oh my god, man. It cost more than my house in England. If you pay for that for my health, like, I'll be a little soldier for him for the rest of my life," he said.

Ospreay's surgery was a success, and he eventually returned to AEW, fast-tracking his return with various therapies, and went on to win the 2026 men's Owen Hart Cup. The win booked his ticket to Wembley Stadium, where he will meet AEW World Champion Kenny Omega for the title.
