WWE's Trick Williams Believes He Got 'The Biggest Compliment' Upon Losing US Title

After Trick Williams became one of the fastest-rising stars in professional wrestling when he debuted on "WWE SmackDown" at the start of the year, fans were thrilled to watch him win his first singles title on the main roster when he defeated Sami Zayn at WrestleMania 42 to become the United States Champion. Following a 105-day reign, Williams would lose the title to Baron Corbin at SummerSlam, a decision that many fans were frustrated with since "The Nomad" had just returned to WWE last July. Although he didn't get the result he wanted at SummerSlam, Williams explained that there was a silver lining in losing the United States Championship to Corbin during an interview with "SHAK Wrestling." 

"It's my life's mission statement for every room I walk in, to light it up, set it on fire. I want everybody to feel better because Trick Williams is there. And I do recognize, even if that's just one person, then I'm still doing my job. But to be able to win a title and the crowd goes nuts, and to lose a title and the room goes silent, lets me know that I'm doing my job and that's all that I want. I mean, I want to fuel these fans and give them everything they need to do what they need to do in their lives. So, it's the biggest compliment to me to see the fans want more of Trick Williams."

Since SummerSlam, Williams has been in pursuit of regaining the United States Championship, but whether or not he gets another chance to defeat Corbin will depend on his friend Lil Yachty, who needs to survive five minutes in the ring with "The Lone Wolf" at Sunday Night's Main Event for the young star to get a shot at the title.
