AEW Releases Unaired House Show Featuring Rebel & The Butcher

It has been an emotional week for everyone in All Elite Wrestling.

On September 5, Andy Williams, more commonly known by AEW fans as The Butcher, passed away at the age of 48 after collapsing at an Enjoy Wrestling event in Millvale, Pennsylvania. Four days later on September 9, the stars of AEW came together for the Rebel Heart edition of "AEW Dynamite," a show designed to help Tanea "Rebel" Brooks in her fight against ALS, as well as spreading awareness about the disease. Then on September 12, that night's episode of "AEW Collision" was a full tribute show to The Butcher, complete with charity battle royal and numerous tributes sent in by AEW wrestlers.

In light of all of these events, AEW has decided to dig into its archives and release a previously unaired event that both The Butcher and Rebel featured on, "The House Always Wins."

Taking place at Daily's Place in Jacksonville, Florida on April 9, 2021, "The House Always Wins" was the first-ever AEW house show that was initially designed to take place in front of a small audience during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, thanks to how prominent both The Butcher and Rebel are on the show, AEW has released the show in full on both its official YouTube channel and the MyAEW streaming service.

The show features The Butcher in both the show's opener and the main event. He both competed and won a 15-man battle royal to earn a shot at Darby Allin's AEW TNT Championship in the main event, while Rebel teamed up with Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D, Nyla Rose, and The Bunny to take on Hikaru Shida, Tay Conti (now known as Tay Melo), Red Velvet, and Ryo Mizunami. On top of that, the show also features a Street Fight between Cody Rhodes and Aaron Solo, Jade Cargill's fourth-ever match, and one of the first appearances in an AEW ring for Konosuke Takeshita.
