Diamond Dallas Page Recalls Becoming Close Friends With WWE HOFer Roddy Piper
WWE Hall of Famer Diamond Dallas Page has done a plethora of tremendous things for the industry, both inside the ring and out of it. Saving and resurrecting the life of Jake "The Snake" Roberts', many were very moved by DDP's contributing efforts, including the late "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, who grew closer to him because of it.
"Me and Piper got so close after wrestling," DDP told the "Major Wrestling Figure Podcast" crew during his interview. "We were buddies. And we hung out occasionally when I wrestled, but afterwards, we got so close. He was so moved about what I was doing with Jake...I never thought in a million years that Piper, you know...would die that young."
On July 31, 2015, Piper passed away from cardiac arrest caused by hypertension at the age of 61. Many will never forget how Piper turned WWE on its head with his brash words and heelish tendencies. Since the launch of DDP Yoga, Page has helped many former and current stars transform to more healthier version of themselves, including Roberts, Lex Luger, Mick Foley, D-Von Dudley, and the late Scott Hall.
