Lil Yachty Comments On Whether Ilja Dragunov & Others Were Cut So WWE Could Pay Him

Lil Yachty has dispelled rumors that the likes of Ilja Dragunov were allowed to leave WWE to accommodate celebrities like him.

WWE has brought in several celebrities and made them constant fixtures on WWE television, like Logan Paul and, more recently, Yachty, while at the same time releasing several of its wrestlers. The rapper and confidante of Trick Williams recently spoke on "Insight," where he said that WWE fans are mean and have accused him of being retained by the promotion while talented stars like Dragunov were let go.

"I have [won the fans over] and I find that awesome because, bro, they were mean as f**k. And they are still mean as f**k. Don't get it twisted. They still f**king hate. They'd be like, 'Man, this is sh*t, like, this is where you wasting TV time on?' And then they also assume that, for some reason, wrestlers are getting cut to pay me. That's not happening, guys. They're not cutting wrestlers to pay my bills. I promise I'm not getting paid that much. I don't want you to think that all these fantastic wrestlers are getting cut to pay my salary," clarified Yachty.

Yachty rejected claims that WWE released wrestlers like Dragunov to make room for celebrities like him. He dismissed the idea, insisting WWE isn't cutting wrestlers to pay his bills, before praising Dragunov and highlighting his talent.

"All the time I'll see, like [fans saying], 'You cut Ilja Dragunov for Yachty?' Hey, I have nothing to do with that, you know? By the way, Dragunov's an amazing wrestler. I told him that at Trick's wedding 'cause I always saw him in the hallways, and I never said anything to him 'cause he just always looks so serious and aggressive. But I told him at Trick's, I was like, 'Bro, you are a fantastic worker, man.'"

The musician particularly lauded Dragunov's matches with Carmelo Hayes, stating that he always enjoyed watching them wrestle.
