Before joining WWE, Trick Williams was a football player, having grown up with the sport all the way through college and a little bit beyond. With so many wrestlers coming from a similar background, there are certainly things in common between football and pro wrestling, but speaking on "Tap Out Tea," he pointed out one way in which they're polar opposites.

"The funny thing about football is, on the offensive side, they determine how good you are by how many tackles you can break, how well you catch the ball — pretty much how [good] you are at staying on your feet," Williams said. "The first thing you learn becoming a WWE Superstar is how to fall, how to hit the ground, how to flip, how to cartwheel."

Because of that major difference, Williams had some difficulty adjusting to WWE at first, like most recruits. He was used to a mentality where you wanted to stay off the ground at all costs, so he felt that learning the correct way to fall and pick himself back up was the hardest part of his pro wrestling training.

"From there, you just [take it] day by day," Williams continued.

The next steps of his training consisted of developing his character, which included figuring out which wrestling moves suited his character best.

Williams is far from the only former football player on the WWE roster, with names such as Roman Reigns, Baron Corbin, and Bron Breakker all having fairly extensive backgrounds in the sport.
