Joseph Sawyer (Fka WWE's Joe Gacy) Appears To Suffer Injury, Storms Out Of GCW Event

Former WWE star Joe Gacy (now wrestling under Joseph Sawyer), sustained a worrisome knee injury during his second match of the night on Saturday's GCW show, The Score.

Last night, Sawyer held two single title defenses against Jeffrey John and Jazzy Yang. When wrestling his latter opponent, Sawyer took a cannonball in the corner, with his knee taking most of the damage. Seconds after that catastrophic hit, Sawyer exited the ring, headed towards the back, and left the 20th Century Theater in Cincinnati, Ohio, without his world championship.

Clearing the air about his abrupt exit from The Score, Sawyer shared what happened on X, saying: "To clear the air. Yes I did get hurt. No, I didn't finish the match. I tried to get the feeling back in my knee to see if I could and sadly I couldn't. Luckily it seems like it isn't anything that will put me out for an extended about [amount] of time. So yes I think I'll be okay for now."

On Sunday morning, Sawyer provided a positive update on his status, writing: "Actually walking better already this morning thank you to everyone that reached out [I love you hand sign emoji]."

Sawyer is coming off of a very big week since reaching free agency status after being let go from WWE this past April. He and Samuel Shaw (formerly known as WWE star/Wyatt Sicks member Dexter Lumis) made their surprise appearance on "TNA Impact" this past Thursday after revealing themselves as Matt and Jeff Hardy's attackers. Both Sawyer and Shaw, now fighting under the tag team name of Syx, have each signed deals with the promotion.
