Big Cass returned to WWE in August after eight years away, during which he spent time in TNA and AEW. He spent a few weeks going after Je'Von Evans before getting back into the ring. Cass hasn't really clicked with the audience since he's returned and, last week, he took a surprising loss to Dragon Lee. That loss led Dave Meltzer to opine that perhaps WWE has already given up for him and that they don't have concrete plans for him.

Several months before Cass' return, there had been speculation that his former tag team partner, Enzo Amore would return with him, though Amore has yet to appear. On "Wrestling Observer Radio," Meltzer said he was under the impression that Enzo returning to "NXT" was "pretty much a done deal," but it didn't materialize.

"They were going to keep Enzo and Cass apart because of the idea that if they put them together, Cass' upside is very limited in a tag team, based on how WWE does tag teams. But now with Cass in the spot that he's in, being with Enzo may not be the worst thing — in a tag team," he explained.

Meltzer did question the need for Enzo to be reunited with his former partner if Cass is just beating up guys by himself anyway.
