Gable Steveson came aboard to WWE in 2021 with an impressive record in amateur wrestling. That same success never quite translated into a pro wrestling ring, however, as he was later released from the company after less than two-dozen official matches.

On a recent edition of "Something To Wrestle," WWE Hall of Famer John "Bradshaw" Layfield shared his take on Steveson's short run in WWE.

"I mean, he's done a lot of things," JBL said. "He came into wrestling. I saw him when he was there and he wasn't great for WWE. Just didn't quite have the knack of the working part of it and the charisma part of it. Obviously, he's a terrific amateur wrestler, but he just couldn't grasp it. I saw him out there with Shelton Benjamin. Shelton did everything he could with him, but unfortunately, I just don't think our business was made for him."

Following Steveson's WWE exit in the spring of 2024, reports indicated that he didn't live up to the company's expectations. Journalist Dave Meltzer additionally noted that the former Olympian lacked charisma and reaction from fans in the few in-ring outings he did under the WWE banner.

Steveson subsequently pivoted to the National Football League, where the Buffalo Bills signed him to a standard three-year rookie contract. His stint in the NFL didn't last long, though, as the franchise released him only a few months into it.

Steveson is currently contracted to UFC, most recently losing to Sean Sharaf via knockout in 12 seconds at UFC 331 on September 19.
