Former WWE star Drake Maverick was a cornerstone of the company's 24/7 Championship division, when the title ran wild backstage beginning in 2019. The star would chase around R-Truth, as well as the many celebrities who held the title. In an interview with Simon Miller, Maverick looked back on fondly the era, and said he believes his ingenuity helped show WWE what the title could be, after not initially even being meant to get a shot at it.

"When I look back at it, didn't realize in the moment [they were] the good ol' days," he said. "When I look back on it, it's just the best. Wasn't even supposed to be involved in it. I got brought to 'Raw' every week because I was the '205 Live' general manager at the time... I was always brought to TV on a Monday just in case they needed me for anything, whether it be digital or stuff."

Maverick recalled always driving from "Raw" to "WWE SmackDown," which was filmed on Tuesdays, at the time. He said that it was Adam Pearce who vouched for him to be in the 24/7 division, as he was always "at the bottom tier list." He remembered one of the first segments, where Titus O'Neil won the belt in the ring, and then the race for the gold was on.

"I remember we busted a Bobby Lashley and a Baron Corbin backstage, everyone runs through," he said. "This was, not going into business for myself, I don't want to call it, but seizing the moment. But, believe me, I went into a lot of business for myself with this. I stopped, looked at Bobby, looked at Corbin, went, 'Sorry.' And just kept on running."
