The wrestling world is still mourning the death of Benjamin Satterley, known as Pac in AEW and Neville in WWE. The 40-year old, who had just wrestled at AEW All Out 2026 the night before, was found in a rental car outside a restaurant near O'Hare International Airport in Chicago, Illinois and was pronounced dead on arrival, with the cause of death still unknown.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer provided an update on the investigation surrounding Pac's passing, stating that the cause of death will be released after the toxicology reports come in. This process could take a few weeks or even a few months depending on each individual case, and no preliminary results have been released by the Cook County Medical Examiners Office.

Meltzer spoke to a source who works closely with the office, who stated that when additional studies have been ordered, it usually indicates that the person who passed away didn't have a "natural death" such as a stroke, a heart attack, or an aneurysm, as all of these would be apparent in the initial autopsy.

The source did note that they aren't entirely familiar with Pac's case but understands that it is a high-profile one, which Meltzer believes is also a reason why no information has been released at this time as the office will want to make sure their findings are conclusive, and doing extra studies and research, a more concrete answer can be provided whenever the time comes. Essentially, by not announcing anything now, Meltzer stated that the office simply doesn't have enough information to make a ruling, and that a timeframe on when a ruling will be announced will remain disclosed as cases as high-profile and complex as Pac's need to be treated with the upmost seriousness.

Pac's Final Hours

In his update, Meltzer also provided details about the minutes and hours before Pac passed away.

It had already been made public that he was found dead at the wheel of his rental car just after 4PM CT on September 27, with saliva on the front of his shirt and undisclosed medication in his car. Since then, Meltzer noted that while officers were at the scene of his death, a woman called Pac's cell phone and officers answered it, with the officers finding out that Pac had told the woman who remains nameless at this time that he was on the way to the airport, but stopped off at CAVA's Mediterranean restaurant across the street to have some lunch, which Meltzer stated was a decision he made as his flight back to Newcastle on that day was delayed.

However, Pac never got out of the car once he parked up, and since he reportedly never complained about any pains or aches before he set off means that he didn't pull over because he felt something as he was driving, something must have happened between his last call and his sudden passing. When Pac was found, there were no signs of an inadvertent injuries or foul play, another detail that has made the mission to find out the cause of death take a little longer than usual.

The wrestling world has paid tribute to Pac in more ways than one since his passing. The September 30 episode of "AEW Dynamite" was entirely dedicated to Pac and his career, which included a number of tributes from the AEW roster. Those tributes that didn't make it to air due to time constraints were complied and released on AEW's YouTube channel. WWE also released a compilation of tributes from those who knew Pac best, and companies he had previously worked for such as RevPro and Dragon Gate honored him with a ten-bell salute.
