Seth Rollins has competed in some of WWE's biggest matches, but one SummerSlam showdown seemingly stands above the rest.

During a recent interview with "ESPN New York" Rollins raved about his 2026 SummerSlam clash with WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns, whom he once called a Shield brethren.

"I think it was a core moment in my career," Rollins said. "It really put a stamp on the last decade or more of what WWE has become, from when The Shield came in 2012 to now as we're starting to transition out of our era into whatever the next generation is going to be. It really kind of put a stamp on that.

"That was a lot of pressure going in," he continued. "We're missing one of our core guys in Mox, who's over in AEW. I think that when it's just the two of you who've been here and not left and went though all of the bad times to get to the good times, there's a lot of pressure to do that story and the fan expectation service. I felt really proud of the fact that we were able to do that and deliver what our audience really enjoyed."

Rollins and Reigns are no stranger to one another, having worked together as part of The Shield from 2012 until the former swung a chair to end their alliance in 2014. A nod to that infamous moment emerged at SummerSlam 2026 as Reigns picked up a chair, then deciding to toss it aside instead of swinging it himself. Three spears later, "The OTC" pinned Rollins to retain the World Heavyweight Championship.

Rollins has not been seen on WWE television since, though he did wrestle at a string of live events alongside Solo Sikoa and LA Knight in South America last month.
